Bollywood Top 10 Taxpayers of 2009!

The bad economy had little effect on our Bollywood top earners this year. To be more precise they actually paid 17% more in taxes than last year. The Times of India revealed the Top 10 star tax payers of 2009.

1. Akshay Kumar

Finally Akshay has managed to steal the title from Shahrukh by paying a staggering Rs 31 crore (Rs 310 million) on taxes. Despite box office flops like Jumbo, Chandni Chowk to China and Tasveer 8 x 10 he has managed to beat all other when it comes to earning the big dough.

2. Shahrukh Khan

Only one point behind Akki, Shahrukh Khan paid Rs 30.99 crore (Rs 309.9 million). Although Rab ne bana di jodi and Billu Barbar didn't manage to get him the number 1 title, Endorsements and his IPL team Kolkata knight Riders are bringing in big bucks.

3. Salman Khan

He might've gifted Bollywood with mega flops such as Yuvraaj, God Tussi Great Ho but the star has still managed to take number 3 spot with with Rs 14 crore (Rs 140 million).

4. Saif Ali Khan

Saif paid Rs 8.6 crore (Rs 86 million) in taxes. Even when our Chote Nawab is not seen on screen but around town holding hands with lovely Bebo, he is definitely making money.

5. Rajesh Khanna

This has left one and all surprised, then amused at the end confused. How did Akki's father in-law make the list. Even his old rival Amitabh Bachchan had more releases.

6. Aishwarya Bachchan

Our Bollywood bahu paid Rs 4.7 crore (Rs 47 million). With a hit like Jodha Akbar and films like Raavan and Entharian in her kitty, the Bachchan bahu is making just as much as other top Bollywood actors.

7. Kareena Kapoor

Chote Nawab is not the only one making top list, his other half and Chote Begum Kareena has also joined the list. Bebo paid Rs 3.6 crore (Rs 36 million). The actress' career has never looked better as everyone await her upcoming flick Kambaqt Ishq.

8. Abhishek Bachchan

Delhi 6 might've been a flop but he is still one of the top earners. Abhishek paid Rs 3.2 crores (Rs 32 million) as taxes. It seems to be wife Aish is the top bread earner.

9. Himesh Reshamiya

The Nasal singer turned actor paid Rs 3 crore (Rs 30 million) after terrifying us with Karzzz last year. These days the actor is busy with his new flick "kajra re".

10 Amitabh Bachchan

Beta and Bahu are not the only ones who bring in the cash. Big B has paid Rs 1.25 crores (Rs 12.5 million)

Other big names such as Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra">Priyanka Chopra have not made the list. It is to be seen how the list changes in the future as the gen x actors Ranbir, Imran, Deepika has started to charge earth shattering amounts for their movies.

rajesh khanna has really gone down with that bad movie but other than that he was an amazing actor and a bigger superstar than anyone now ... he had lot of investments in properties and which makes him in that list.. hope he does not put his family in shame with that kind of movie and work in some better one !!!
