Happy Birthday to Shammi Kapoor!

Hey! Guess why today is extra special...? It's the birthday of the one and only Shamsher Raj Kapoor, better and lovingly known as Shammi Kapoor. Son of the legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor, the fun and frolic boy of yesteryear, Shammiji was born on October 21, 1931.

Born in Amchi Mumbai, the actor spend a significant chunk of his younger years in city of joy Kolkata, before making his way back to tinsel town for a long innings of an extremely successful and popular career as an actor!

His first break came with 1953 film, Jeevan Jyoti. After that he went on to deliver a line of blockbusters such as China Town, Dil Tera Deewana, Andaz and so on. He received the Filmfare Best Actor Award in 1968 and Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1982.

On his special day, here's over to Shammiji about his life, in his own words:

"I am not boasting and this is not an age to boast but I lived life no Prince anywhere could. I had the best clothes, the best cars. I had a beautiful wife in Geeta Bali

I drank and smoked like the world was going to come to an end tomorrow. I did everything possible to unintentionally shock people. I really lived life king size.

I had courted some of the most beautiful women in the country."

Well, this is one man that makes us believe that old is gold. And life has all its colors to bestow. And, living up to ones dreams should be the ultimate pursuit of a human!

Here's wishing Bollywood's special old man a very special 79th birthday!
