Talking about the most prominent individuals in Bollywood, Krishna Raj Kapoor is one of the leading lights in the world. Wife and a staunch individual of the Kapoor family, she had been the building block and one the foundations to build the humongous empire of Indian Show Business.

As the city glimmered, in the first rays of October-sunshine, B-Town woke up on the sad and tragic note, as the Kapoor family lost an influential pillar. The entire Indian Film industry was saddened as the wife of the greatest showman of Hindi cinema Raj Kapoor, took her last breath on Monday morning. The wife and mother of five left for he heavenly adobe because of a cardiac arrest at 5 AM this morning. As her demise left everyone in deep sorrow, condolences from Bollywood have been pouring down to the Kapoor family.

Charlie Chaplin of Indian Cinema, Raj Kapoor was married to Krishna Malhotra in 1946 and were blessed with five children. The three sons, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Rajiv Kapoor, and two daughters, Ritu Kapoor and Rima Kapoor. The woman and a gleaming figure who never left Raj Kapoor's side stood up strong and affectionately for the family and through his career's ups and downs. After the death of Raj Kapoor back in 1988, she was the eldest member of the family and had been taking care since then.

During an interview for the autobiography of Bina Ramani (the second wife of Shammi Kapoor), she narrates her anecdotal tale of her relationship with Shammi Kapoor and how Krishna Raj Kapoor supported her, "it was an initiative taken by Bhabhiji (Raj Kapoor's wife, Krishna Malhotra). After the death of Shammi's first wife Geeta Bali, they wanted to stabilize his family. My family (lalvanis) and Kapoors were very close. We used to dine together. Since I was raised in a very familiar manner, bhabhiji thought I would make for a perfect partner for Shammi. She wanted me to mother his kids. In fact, she used to arrange secret meetings for both of us. The year of 1966 was incredible. We were in love. But one meeting with Raj Kapoor changed it all."

May her soul rest in peace!
