KASH? AAP HAMARE HOTE is the launching pad for Raj Babbar's daughter Juhi Babbar. The film is produced by Nadira Babbar and directed by Ravinder Peepat.
Behind the scenes ?
* The location for the film was to be decided between Norway and Canada, but when Raj Babbar, Peepat and writer Atul Tiwari landed in Canada, they were so mesmerised by the beauty of the terrain there that they decided to shoot the entire film in Canada itself.
* The mahurat of the film was performed at 5 a.m. on May 10, 2001, while the first shot was taken aboard a cruiseliner in Vancouver on August 17, 2001.
* The film was shot in a 58-day schedule in Canada and the beauty of the snow clad mountains, green cliffs, blue lakes and amazing rock formations that change colour by the hour have been captured on celluloid by cinematographer Manmohan Singh.
* The title song of the film was shot on 20 locations spread across 500 miles of Canada. Besides, KASH? AAP HAMARE HOTE is the first film that has been shot in Sahara Sshahar Lucknow.
The synopsis ?
Amrita (Juhi Babbar) had lost her parents in a car crash when she was a child. But her father's best friend, Yashwant Raj Mankotia (Om Puri), came as a saviour in the life of this orphaned girl and raised her as his own daughter. Naughty, bubbly Amrita soon became everyone's favourite in her town, Chamba.
When she reaches the marriageable age, Yashwant Raj brings the best proposal for her, even if it means sending her away to a distant land, far from him. With dreams in her eyes and hopes in her heart, she leaves her doting father and the shore of India.
Once in the west, Amrita finds herself in an alien world, which is hostile and venomous to her. The compromises that she is supposed to make are beyond her comprehension and dignity and she is forced to make difficult choices.
Jay Kumar (Sonu Nigam) is an illegal Indian immigrant who works in a sawmill through the day and spends lonely evenings with his friends in neighbourhood pubs. One evening, when he drives back home, he finds this helpless Indian girl at his doorstep. More than happy to help a needy person, he welcomes her into his home.
Slowly, he realises that Amrita occupies not only his house, but also a place in his heart. Amrita is all that Jay could ever wish for. Like a man besotted, Jay starts showering his love on Amrita and dreams of a life with her, though as a traditional Indian boy, he is too shy to reveal his feelings to Amrita.
Impelled by his friends, Jay gathers courage to express his love to her. But Jay is shattered when he comes to know that Amrita has her own irrevocable past.
Not someone to shed a tear easily, Jay overcomes his anguish to make Amrita's happiness his only goal in life. His four friends also pitch in their own small way to bring a smile back on her face.
But what should Amrita do? Trapped between an unpleasant past and an unsure future, Amrita finds herself at crossroads?
The character sketches ?
Sharad Kapoor plays Randeep Raj Mankotia ? the only son of Yashwant Raj Mankotia. Randeep stayed back in Canada, where his father had sent him to study years ago. He is a fixer who will not shy away from shaking hands with the devil if the deal can bring him a profit.
Raj Babbar is Sardar Teja Singh Brar ? his life is a beacon of hope burning bright in the cold confines of Canada. He owns a huge sawmill, which is also a support to Indian immigrants. His love for India knows no boundaries and on every pious or patriotic occasion, his house becomes home for all Indians.
Om Puri is Yashwant Raj Mankotia ? a man of steely resolve with a heart of gold. That is why he rules over the hearts of the people of Chamba.
Johny Lever is Black Face ? when his boozing and gambling gets him into a debt trap, he tries to wriggle out by making a contract with Randeep, only to find himself in an even tighter trap.
Saadhika is Simone ? she is so sure of her hypnotic spell on men that she willingly allows Randeep to go to another woman, if the deal brings in materialistic gains.
KASH? AAP HAMARE HOTE has music by Aadesh Shrivastava. It is scheduled for release in January.
