About Raj Babbar

Raj Babbar (born June 23, 1952, Agra, India) is an Indian actor who has acted in several successful Hindi films since 1980.
He is an alumnus of the 1975 batch of National School of Drama.He is a renowned actor and known for his special style of dialogue delivery. Most of his roles have negative shades. Many art movies and commercial movies are under his name. Despite of his best acting capability, he was not given any star image. But, everyone enjoyed best roles acted by him.
He started opposite one of the well known actress of that time; Reena Roy in Hindi film "Sau Dina Saas Ke (100-days of mother-in-law).
Later he nailed the stake in ground by very horrific well played negative role in B.R. Chopra's "Insaaf Ka Tarazu" (Balance of justice). He was touted as next Number-1 after Amitabh Bachchan, however couldn't stay on-course to the same glory. He became a consistent player on B.R. Chopra's films; Nikaah with Deepak Parashar and Salma Agha, Aaj Ki Aawaz with Smita Patil whom he married despite being married with two children.
He worked with top banners and top stars of his era and has great political future.He also achieved success in Punjabi cinema as he gave remarkable performance in " Chan Pardesi" and " Marhi da Diva ".
He married Nadira Babbar and also late Smita Patil. Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar are two children from Nadira Babbar. After the birth of Smita's son Prateek Babbar, she died after few days. After her death Raj Babbar patched up with his first wife Nadira Babbar. Although Prateek Babbar lives with the family of Raj Babbar's in-laws.
 Raj Babbar was also linked with Rekha soon after the death of Smita Patil.
His last film was released on 7 October 2005; entitled 'Yaraan Naal Baharaan' in which he played role of Jimmy Shergill 's father. Her Daughter Juhi Babbar played main lead in this film.
He joined Samajwadi Party and got himself involved in politics and became Member of Parliament of India for three times. Currently he is the M.P. (Lok Sabha) from Agra.
Due to some controversies with Amar Singh, Babbar got suspended from Samajwadi Party eventually losing to Amar Singh. Raj Babbar emphasized "socialism" the basis of formation of Samajwadi Party, however Amar Singh has star power which brings lot of influence and money-power which is critical for survival in the political system of India.
Later he joined with former Prime Minister of India V. P. Singh who functions under an outfit names as Jan Morcha.
