Arijit Singh.
Born in West Bengal, Singh comes from a family of
musicians. He initiated his music training from his house as

his grandmother
was a singer while aunt was trained in Indian Classical music. He also learnt
music from his mother who used to sing as well as play tabla. His inclination
towards music led him to learning it professionally. He learnt Indian classical music
from Rajendra Prasad Hazari and trained in tabla from Dhirendra Prasad Hazari
while Birendra Prasad Hazari taught him Rabindra Sangeet and pop music.
Singh started his career by participating in reality show
Fame Gurukul (2005). Though he lost in the finals, he entered another show
10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil. He won
the show and built his own recording setup and began his journey with music
programming. He went on to become assistant music programmer to Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy,
Vishal-Shekhar and
Mithoon. Then there was no looking back.
He made his Bollywood singing debut with "Phir Mohabbat"
from
Murder 2 (2011) which created a hype among the audiences. Later he went on to sing various songs like "Raabta" from
Agent Vinod (2012), "Yaariyan" from
Cocktail (2012),
"Duaa" from
Shanghai (2012) which earned him Mirchi Music Award for Upcoming Male
Playback Singer award. He was also nominated in the same category for "Phir
Le Aya Dil" from
Barfi! (2012). He rose to widespread prominence with "Tum
Hi Ho" from
Aashiqui 2 (2013) which fetched him several awards and nominations.
Since then, he has given us various hits which has managed to hit a perfect
chord with the audience becoming the favorite amongst the youth.
Nevertheless, his passion for music got him to where he is
