Music review: Ugly Aur Pagli

Mallika Sherawat and Ranvir Shorey are already making the news for the great chemistry they share in the upcoming comedy Ugly Aur Pagli. The film's music has been topping the charts and has vocals by popular names like Hard Kaur, Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan.
The album opens with the amazing dance bhangra floor
fusion 'Talli'. Full on masti and excitement, the song is truly intoxicating and can make anyone and everyone tap their feet and start dancing. The unique mix of Anmol
Malik's husky voice in this song along with singers Hard Kaur and Mika Singh gives this song a young and youthful feel. Then there is 'Talli – Remix', in which Anu Malik handles the main vocals as he croons away in a slightly
annoying voice. The remix is by DJ Amyth which brings Hard Kaur front and
center with the pumped up Dhol and faster and heavier beats. It will be a huge hit at
the pubs, though many may prefer the original version more in comparison to the remix.
Then next track “Karle Gunaah” is a Punjabi song mixed with rap which has quite a good feel to it. Ishq Bectar provides the male vocals, rapping rhyming rhythmic lyrics which add strength to the song while Anushka provides the vocals as the sultry female counterpart. The music
along with the tadka of Reggaeton, Flamenco and Middle Eastern beats has made
the song so peppy that one just can’t stop their feet. In the middle of the song
there are also Arabic rhythms along with some clapping which has made the
soundtrack distinct from others. The video of the song picturizes Mallika
Sherawat in tiny clothes, which will increase the heartbeat of men. Another hit
track makes it two in a row for Anu Malik on this soundtrack! Karle Gunaah
Akhiyan Milake – Remix and Karle Gunaah Akhiyan Milake - Version II also make entries on the soundtrack though once again the original song sounds much better than the remixes.
The third track, “Yeh Nazar” serves its purpose well! Its sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and her voice is just perfect as her singing adds style
and energy to the song. Later in the song Shaan joins in and the playful lyrics of the song make it a must hear for music lovers!
The next track is 'Shut Up, Aa Nachle' begins
with a Spanish flavor, which Anu Malik has given vocals for
himself along with Vasundhara Das. Vasundhara is quite good in her performance for a song which has a mix of Spanish, Western
and Punjabi tarka in it. Dibyendu Mukherji is also heard singing a few lines in
the song. One noticable problem in the song is that Anu's voice jsut does not fit the song which makes it lose its charm.
The fifth soundtrack is 'Yaad Teri Aaye Jaaye' which is a very well crafted track. Amitabh Verma has provided the perfect lyrics which are both memorable and sweet. The acoustic guitar in the soundtrack is quite beautiful and overall the song is soothing and soft making it a nice track on this album!
Rating: 3 Chillies Out of Five. Great tracks & An Album Filled With Variety!
