In this edition of BollyCurry's 'Illuminated
Artiste Of The Month', we bring to you someone who is relatively new to
the music industry, yet has managed to establish herself as one of the
best playback singersof recent time. We are talking about none other
than the 2012 Filmfare Award winner,
Shalmali Kholgade.

This
beautiful Indian singer-cum-songwriter hails from Mumbai, but she
hasn't restricted herself to Hindi Cinema. She has also showcased her
talent in Tamil and Marathi Cinema, and has done a few numbers in
English as well. Still wondering who she is? Kholghade is the talented
voice behind various blockbuster songs including her debut track
"Pareshaan" (
Ishaqzaade), for which she received her very first
Filmfare Award in 2012. Upon its release, the track began topping music
charts across India, and Kholgadhe was pronounced as one of the most
promising singer of tomorrow by a majority of the film critics.
There
has been no looking back for this lass since then. The first track to
be declared a hit in 2013 was Jacqueline Fernandez's party number "Lat
Lag Gayee" (
Race 2), sung by none other than Kholghade. In the
same year, Kholgadhe gave other back-to-back hits including "Balam
Pichkaari" (
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani), and the title track of
Shuddh Desi Romance.
Even
though Kholghade has been in the industry for only two years, she has
numerous popular songs to her credit. Below is a short playlist of her
songs (in no particular order):
"Lat Lag Gayee"

"Balam Pichkaari"
"Daaru Desi"
"Pareshaan"
Music Composer(s): Sachin - Jigar
"Hey Mr DJ"
"Chingam Chabake"
Music Composer(s): Vishal - Shekhar
"Agga Bai"
"Besharmi Ki Height"
Music Composer(s): Sajid - Wajid
"Shanivaar Raati"
Music Composer(s): Sajid - Wajid
At
the age of 26, Kholghade has received a favourable amount of name and
fame. Along with her already popular numbers, she has two other songs
from the forthcoming Varun Dhawan starrer
Main Tera Hero, that
hold the potential to win it big on the charts. Our best wishes are with
Shalmali Kholgade, and BollyCurry hopes that she continues to share
her immense talent with the world for decades to come.
