Juhi Chawla.
Chawla
was born into an Army family in Ambala, Haryana on 13th
November, 1967. The gorgeous Chawla attended Fort Convent School
followed by Sydenham College in Mumbai. She won the coveted title of Miss India in 1984 and the Best Costume Award for the Miss
Universe contest in the same year. Further, she went on to marry industrialist Jay
Mehta in 1995 and the beautiful couple has been blessed with two kids, Jhanvi (2001)
and Arjun Mehta (2003).
Chawla
not only managed to sway awards, but also earned widespread critical acclaim for her
work, not to mention immense love from the audience. Her most memorable works
till date include Qayamat
Se Qayamat Tak

(2011). The super-hit movie Qayamat
Se Qayamat Tak,
an adaption of William Shakespeare's tragic play, Romeo and Juliet,
brought Chawla into the limelight.
The ravishing star played the role of Rashmi, a strong minded girl
who was ready to sacrifice everything for her love. Chawla's marvelous
performance in the film was well received by the audience and critics
alike, and she went on to win the Filmfare Lux New Face Award for her
performance.
Known for portraying vivacious roles on-screen, Juhi
Chawla thrilled everyone with the portrayal of Chandrika in

Deewarein
- considered to be one of Chawla's finest performances till date. The
stunning diva played the role of a documentary film maker in an abusive
relationship, who men on death row (played by Jackie Shroff,
Nagesh Kukunoor and Naseeruddin Shah). In the process of the meetings
with the three prisoners, she finds redemption to her troubled
marriage. Chawla's performance in
My Brother Nikhil, a widely acclaimed film, was also lauded by the critics and audience. She
played the role of Anamika, the sister of famous swimmer Nikhil
Kapoor (Sanjay Suri). When Nikhil is diagnosed with HIV, everyone
including his parents, girlfriend and friends leave him, save for Anamika
and her boyfriend Nigel (Purab Kohli), who stand by him and fight for his
rights.
Juhi Chawla won the Zee Cine Awards for Best Actress (Critic) for her
performance in the movie.
Chawla starred in I Am (2011), an Indian Anthology
film that included four short stories based on real life stories.
Chawla played the titular role of Megha in I am Megha,
alongside Manisha Koirala. Although the
film failed to do well on the Box Office, it received mainly positive
response from critics and won many awards including the National
Award for Best Hindi Film. It was also screened at many international
festivals, including the I View Film Festival held in New York.
