"Zara sa dil mein de
jaga tu". This dynamic and popular track from 2008's hit film
Jannat
encaptures our minds when we hear of the model-turned-actress,
Sonal Chauhan. On the 16
th of May, the pretty lass celebrated her 29
th
birthday!
Born in Muzzafarnagar, UP,
Sonal's family consists of her father who is in the police force, her
mother who is
a housewife, an older brother and two younger sisters. She attended the
Delhi Public school in Noida and is a Philosophy Honors holder from
Gargi College,
New Delhi. Soon after college, Sonal made her way to the glamour world
and won a number of named beauty pageants, including the prestigious Miss World Tourism 2005 held
in Malaysia. It was a major
achievement for her as she was the first Indian lady honored with this
title. It was from that point onward that there was no looking back for
her as she quickly scaled the
ladder of success and became one of the top models of Delhi.
One could often catch Sonal in
various ads of brands such as
Ponds,
Nokia,
Hindustan Times,
LG,
Reliance, etc.
She has even walked the ramp for the jewellery brand
YSI8 as the showstopper
during the
International Jewellery week 2011. Sonal also featured on cover pages for
magazines like
FHM and
Man Magazine. Her name and fame eventually made way for her acting career
and she debuted with
Himesh Reshammiya's album,
Aap Ka Surroor. It wasn't until 2008's film
Jannat that Sonal received her first blockbuster super-hit opposite
Emraan Hashmi. However, even after such a
successful start with
Jannat, she has not been able to maintain a steady acting career and has only manage to do two films in
Bollywood thus far; the action film
Buddah Hoga Tera Baap and the 2013 released horror
thriller
3G.
Sonal with her grace and
elegance may have charmed the judges and audience all around the world
but she has more to offer than modelling and acting. She made her
singing debut with the song "Kaise Bataaon", a duet sung
with popular singer KK. It was sung for Sonal's latest release
3G, where she paired with Neil Nitin
Mukesh.
Sonal may be just three films old but Jannat
has given her enough tracks to credit. As mentioned earlier, the
romantic track "Zara Sa" was the highlighted song
from the album featuring her romance with Emraan. Other than this, other songs
that gained her fame were "Haan Tu Hai" and "Lambi Judaai", all picturized on her from the same movie.
With this, we at BollyCurry put down our pens down and wish this beautiful actress a very happy birthday. She
undoubtedly is a wonderful actress and a new melodious voice that is a gift to
the film fraternity. We intend to see more of her in the coming years and hope she excels in every venture she pursues.
