Post the record success of 2009's Christmas blockbuster
3 Idiots, there had been much speculation in B-town over the

probability of
Aamir Khan and
Sharman Joshi replacing
Sanjay Dutt and
Arshad Warsi
respectively, in the next movie of the
Munnabhai series.
However,
to the relief of ardent fans of the original actors who breathed life
into the characters of Munna and Circuit, latest news feed has it that
director
Rajkumar Hirani along with producer
Vidhu Vinod Chopra have retained their former duo of Dutt and Warsi.
This ambitious project in reference had initially been titled Munnabhai Chale Amrika;
even a promo had been aired to credit of the same. Drastic revision
however seems to have struck the making of this sequel, with the movie
being renamed as Munnabhai Ki Aatma Katha, and with the old
storyline dismissed, a brand new script to effect is currently under
works. The project is tentatively scheduled to go on floors some time in
2012.
With a history of success as phenomenal as the Munnabhai series
has seen commercially and in critical acclaim, it should not surprise
fans to learn that Chopra was even approached by contacts in Hollywood
to consider the sale of rights for this popular franchise; an offer that
Chopra easily declined.
Now with work for the next sequel going full steam, be ready to have your funny bone tickled once again!
