When preparing for his film Kurbaan, Saif Ali Khan had taken upon himself to study the Islamic scripture, the Holy Quran. Now, for director Prakash Jha's upcoming venture Aarakshan, Saif is studying the Hindu scriptures, the Vedas.
In the movie, Saif has to don on a character who hails from a socially backward class. His ch

aracter deals with being a well educated lecturer at the same college where he was once a student from an impov
erished class. In between all this, he also falls in love with the upper caste principal's (Amithabh Bachchan) daughter, played by Deepika Padukone.
To get into the skin of the character, it was important for Saif to know the basic history of the caste system that ruled in India, along with all the implications the system held such as inequality, job reservations etc. To gain a solid understanding of this, director Jha and Saif spend at least three days a week, grueling in research and in-depth discussions.
While Saif's new look for the film has not yet been revealed, it is understood that for this role Saif has managed to wave goodbye to his "beefy" look and now will be a supporting a much leaner figure with a moustache.
By refreshing upon some facts, will this preparation help Saif with this new role of his?
