They
say that behind every successful man stands a wise woman. The women,
however, seem to have found success all on their own! After struggling
with biases and inequality for much of human history, today's women are
breaking the barriers by excelling in various fields all by their own
merit. Our Bollywood beauties are no exception. The entertainment
industry has long been ruled by strong female personalities who have
redefined the word 'feminism' with their accomplishments. To recognize
the current generation of women who are carrying this mantle with
dignity, BollyCurry presents "The Most Powerful Women in Showbiz Today":

of Bollywood by taking on a number of versatile roles. Having shot to

her career in films.
The Hero: Love Story of a Spy served as her debut, and she followed it up with the sizzling hit
Andaaz which pitted her against fellow pageant winner Lara Dutta. The Filmfare Best Villain Award, which she won for her role in
Aitraaz, proved
that Priyanka is capable of doing just about anything that comes her
way. She wins fans and accolades in every genre she tries her hand at,
be it comedy (
Dostana), fantasy (
Drona, Krrish) or drama (
Fashion for which she bagged both the National and Filmfare awards).

Eastern Eye
named her the "Hottest Woman in the World" for the past three years in a
row. This British Indian beauty, popularly known as India's Barbie
doll, is one of the most in-demand actresses in B-town today. With a
nearly flop-free track record, a filmography that is surprisingly
extensive considering her relatively recent entry into films, and a
well-received performance in

from audiences and industry folks alike. Most recently, she made waves
and stole hearts with the chart-buster "Sheila Ki Jawani" from the film
Tees Maar Khan.

The heiress of the a

Her character "Geet" earned her more than just fans - many female
viewers came to see her as a role model. She then bagged a prized part
in box office record-breaker
3 Idiots. More recently she was chosen as brand ambassador for Globus and endorsed her own clothing line.
Ekta Kapoor:
When one begins to
discuss Indian television dramas, the first name that comes to mind is
that of

films and made her directorial debut with
Main Hoon Na in 2004. Her next film
Om Shanti Om became one of Bollywood's highest-grossing titles and has earned a unique position in film history for a number of reasons. She
once again proved herself as a choreographer par excellence with the
item song "Sheila Ki Jawani" (jointly with input from choreographer
Geeta) from her own film,
Tees Maar Khan. Her buddy list is comprised of the biggest bigwigs in B-town, and her high-flying turn as a director has only just begun.
Gauri Khan:

Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan, is well known for producing many of her husband's recent hits such as
Main Hoon Na, Billu, and
Paheli.
She co-founded the production company "Red Chillies Entertainment"
along with Shah Rukh in 2002. She mostly remains backstage but she has
established her capability by identifying several great hits for the
company.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan:
Often dubbed the most
beautiful woman in the world by the international media, Aishwarya is
seems to have become Bollywood's ambassador across the globe. After
winning the Miss World title in 1994, she started her film career. She
acted in several movies and won the Filmfare Best Actress award twice
for
Hum Dil De Chuke Hain Sanam and
Devdas (both of which
were directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali). After a brief slump between
2003-2005, she was back in action with the blockbuster
Dhoom 2. She followed this up with well-received roles in films like
Guru, Jodhaa Akbar,
etc. Despite the recent onset of another box office slump, she still
remains as one of the most recognizable faces in the world and is
regarded as one of the best actresses in Bollywood. In 2010, she made
her second appearance in
Time magazine's "100 Most Influential People in the World" list.
