With her age-old beauty (no pun intended) and dancing prowess, it seems like
Vidya Balan is made to fit into period flick
Urmi.
Directed
by Santosh Sivan, the actress was approached to perform a number for
the movie in the traditional South Indian dance style, Mohiniattam,
choreographed by dance director Ulhas. Apparently Sivan was so
impressed with her work, that he ended up roping her in for an extended
part in the 15th Century movie based on the story of Vasco Da Gama's
death.
Apart from Genelia D'Souza and
Prabhudeva playing protagonists, Vidya is accompanied by many more names
in the cast who are part of the movie, including
Tabu, who promises to
inspire awe in a dance sequence choreographed by
Ahmed Khan.
The ensemble of cast already seems promising, and a well made period film is sure something that can do Hindi cinema much good!
