Shiney Ahuja remains in custody after Mumbai court rejected his bail plea on Friday.
Ahuja's lawyer Shrikant Shivade had hoped for some good news after the bail plea was transferred from a Mumbai sessions court to a fast track court last month. Currently the actor waits until September 23rd where he will be framed by fast track court Judge S R Trivedi.
Following this, the trial will commence on a regular day-to-day basis by month end in which the prosecution has lined up approximately two dozen witnesses. However the prosecution lawyer does not intend to examine all the witnesses and expects the trial to be completed within two weeks.
Shiney has been accused of raping his domestic help at his Andher West residence on June 14. If these charges are proved in court, he stands to face a minimum seven-year jail sentence.
