Oh, the sizzling, sweltering heat! May's almost coming to
an end and June is fast approaching, yet there's no sign of the city's
famous monsoon. The soothing showers, the lush greenery and dense
foliage is a sight sorely missed. Oh, how I yearn to pack my bags and be
off to a cooler clime, but I, Ms. Bolly Chili, have responsibilities
that nobody can take over in my absence and so here I am, back to
business and today under my radar are two tall damsels, the reason being
the classic case of two dames - one dress. But this time, we're not
talking about just B-Town, but Hollywood as well.
In January, 2012, during the Filmfare awards, we spotted Chitrangda
Singh sporting an orange-belted, magenta and aqua halter-neck fine silk
gown - a Salvatore Ferragamo creation from the Spring 2012 collection. Teamed
with red sandals, minimal make-up and accessorised with a bracelet and
simple gold hoops, the look was quite not-so-stunning. While an updo was
clearly a better option as compared to leaving the waves cascading, a
few dangling tresses would have done some good and no harm would have been done by adding some
charm to her look. As nothing except the vibrant colours was striking
about the gown, we would have expected Chitrangda to kick up the glamour a
notch considering it was the Filmfares. Apparently, Singh has taken
'simplicity is beauty' to heart, no?
Not long after, in May
2012, we spotted Jennifer Lopez in exactly the same Salvatore Ferragamo gown at the
American Idol, Season 11, Top 3 To 2 Live Elimination Show! JLo opted
for light make-up and a gold cuff and hoops to complete the look. The
thigh-high slit, the star feature of the gown, was quite prominent in
all it's splendid glory giving us a peek of the Giuseppe Zanotti
electric-purple-bow-accented platform heels. The bow around the neck
clearly was a better choice as compared to tying it at the waist while
the wavy tresses dangled beyond.

Considering that this was one of JLo's
'best' looks on the show, all we can say is JLo was clearly not in her
glamorous element during the season either.
While both the ladies
have shown their taste for vibrant colours and Salvatore Ferragamo, the
ultimate question remains: who do you think wore it best? Do share your
opinions with us while I go grab that deliciously tempting tub of
pistachio-vanilla sundae to beat the heat. Until then, sayonara, loves!
