Shahid Kapoor's Batti Gul Meter Chalu, which deals with the burning issue of electricity thefts across India, received a power boost with the Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat giving the mahurat clap. Later, the Bollywood superstar spent time sharing pleasantries with the CM.
An insider says, "There is going to be another actor in the film because it involves a love triangle between him, Shahid and Shraddha Kapoor. But it's definitely not a parallel lead. The makers are looking to 'cast an actor and not a star for that role'. Yami Gautam is in a special appearance. She plays a lawyer who helps Shahid on his mission to stop the power-theft and crack down on the defaulters."
Nothing much has been revealed about Shraddha's role yet except that she will play the role of a small town girl. When Shraddha came on board for this project, she had expressed, "I'm thrilled to be working on 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' along with Shree sir, Bhushanji, Prernaa, and Shahid. I feel fortunate to be a part of this film. The subject of the movie is very relevant today and I can't wait to start shooting for it".
The film is expected to release on August 31 this year.
