In a conversation with a leading daily, being candid about his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmaavat", Ranveer said, "I was the first to start the shoot in November in 2016 and I was the last to finish towards the end of last year. It required a lot of energy and took a lot out of me. Let's put it this way: it really affected me."
While speaking about how playing Alauddin Khilji's role affected him, the actor revealed, "I was very consumed with the character, as I was shooting for 12-14 hours every day, especially as this was a character that is very far from who I am [in real life]. The character definitely took me deep and it will take me some time to cleanse it from my system."
He further added, "I shot the film for a full year, and I have to admit that living with Alauddin Khilji for that long wasn't easy. That's why it then became a sort of a process to shed the character."
Well, the roller coaster ride of Ranveer to play this role had him deep but, to take it out from his mind and body the actor took a long vacation to London post completing the shoot for "Padmaavat". Not just that, but, he also shaved his long beard and chopped off his hair to prepare for his next film, "Gully Boy" which is slowly helping Ranveer get into a different role after playing the tough one on big screen.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and also starring Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. "Padmaavat" is slated to release on January 25, 2018.
