Akshay Kumar's upcoming film Jolly LLB 2 has been slapped by a legal notice from famous footwear brand, BATA, for defaming the company's name. The footwear label has asked the makers of the film to apologize for an insulting dialogue made against it which lowers the brand value.
Here is the dialogue from the trailer because of which the film received the legal notice: "Varna Kya BATA ka joota pehan kar, tuchhi si terricot ki shirt pehan kar, saala humse zabaan lada rahe hain." The subtitles for the dialogue reads, "Who are you to argue with me in your cheap shoes and shabby clothes." (sic)
Legal firm Kochhar & Co. has sent the notice to makers on behalf of BATA. Neeraj Grover from Kochhar & Co. says that the dialogue has been harming the brand's image as it is being watched by many over the internet! The petition submitted reads, "The footwear and other accessories of Our Client are worn by the who's who of the country and patronised by well known personalities the dialogue is intended to convey that the brand Bata is adorned only by the lower strata of society and one should feel humiliated if one wears Bata footwear." (sic)
Grover was quoted saying,"Bata has taken this derogatory remark very seriously and shall pursue all legal remedies. The impunged dialogue has caused immense damage to the goodwill of Bata and lowered its image." (sic)
No official comment over the issue from the makers yet!
