We made a film on Neerja Bhanot,recipient of the Ashoka Chakra: Sonam!

Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor's film Neerja was recently stuck into controversy after one of the fellow flight attendants who witnessed that dreadful night with Neerja Bhanot, raised certain allegations on the film.

She alleged that the film is more of a fiction than a reality. The person posted on her social media profile stating that the film propagated only one side of the story. It led to a controversy on the social media as it questioned the credibility of the film.

However in a recent interview, Sonam clarified her take on the controversy. She states that, "Only one person had raised the question and later they deleted that Facebook page. There was one article and not even article but it was a Facebook page. In the morning at 10.30am the film released and a few hours later they posted it and two hours later they even deleted the post. I had no idea and I really don't know. All I know is that we have tried to be as honest to what everybody went through on the flight as we could with all humility. There are lots of passengers who have sent us letters and they've put up post on how Neerja meant to them and the kind of stuff they went through. There is a reason she was awarded 'Ashoka Chakra' and other awards. There are lots of citations and it's one of the most well documented stories. She has done things which no one can take from her. Everyone was brave on the flight but we made a film on Neerja Bhanot-recipient of the Ashoka Chakra and I can think we can give her that credit and I think instead of pulling her down, it's time when we remember our heroes  and she deserves that".

Well, Sonam made it evident that they intended to make a film on Neerja Bhanot after detailed research and she deserves the love she is getting today.
