Vidya to play Brothel Madam in her next!

For all those who have been missing Vidya Balan on the big screens, she's all set to be back with a bang!

She had only one release last year, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, and it didn't quite create any magic at the box office. And now, she's all set to star in a Mahesh Bhatt production where she'll play the madam of a brothel.

Now that sounds like quite an interesting role, right?

Vidya Balan is the sort of actress for whom typical Bollywood-y romantic films just don't work. Add a little substance to the character and the plot, and you can bring out the best in her. Remember, that's how she did a great job in Kahaani, and even in The Dirty Picture for that matter.

And the news of this film and her character has definitely got us hoping that we'll see Vidya Balan back in all her glory with this one.

Why? Well, looks like the movie has got a lot going for it, and here's why.

Vidya Balan plays the madam of a brothel in this post partition drama flick.

This definitely sounds like a character which has some depth to it. Also, given the fact that it's a post partition drama!

Mahesh Bhatt's protege and National Award winning director, Srijit Mukherji, will be directing this one.

This film is actually Srijit's Bengali film, 'Rajkahini's Hindi remake. The Hindi adaptation is titled 'Begum Jaan' after the protagonist's feisty character, played by Balan.

The plot of the film sounds really captivating. The film follows the aftereffects of the Partition in Bengal in 1947.

The film delves into the lives of 11 women living in a brothel that finds itself divided by the newly-chalked LOC, with half of the house now in India and the other half in Pakistan.

It's a powerful and moving film. It's easily one of the most interesting scripts, I have got so far", Vidya was quoted saying. [sic]

Well, we can't wait to watch this one!
