'Airlift' will make you proud Indian: Akshay

Actor Akshay Kumar, who is currently awaiting the release of his forthcoming film "Airlift", says it will make you proud to be an Indian.

"Airlift" is based on the story of a massive evacuation of Indians during the Iraq-Kuwait war in 1990.

Akshay took to Twitter on Tuesday and wrote: "@AirliftFilm, a true story that will make you #ProudToBeIndian! #Jan22".

The story of the film is from the point of view of Akshay's character who helped Indians get airlifted from Kuwait. As the poster of the film suggests - 1,70,00 refugees, 488 flights, 59 days and one man.

Directed by Raja Krishna Menon, "Airlift" also stars actors Nimrat Kaur as Akshay's character's wife named Amrita Katyal, and Purab Kohli, who will be seen sporting a rugged look, as Ibrahim Durani - a small town man from India who works in the Middle East.

The film is slated to hit the screens on January 22, 2016.
