Will The Lunch Box make it to the Oscars?

"I am thrilled to be in Telluride and in a line up that includes my favourite filmmakers- the Coen brothers, Jason Rietman and Robert Redford. Its very surreal to see our little film getting such overwhelming responses here; hope The Lunchbox continues to bring accolades to India," says Ritesh Batra, director of The Lunch Box. 

This festival is also very significant for the fact that many of the films selected for screening at TFF have gone on to win the Oscars in recent years. These include Fog of War, Brokeback Mountain, The Lives of Others, Babel, The Last King of Scotland, Juno, Slumdog Millionaire, Up In The Air, The King's Speech, Black Swan, A Separation, The Artist, The Descendants and Argo. Maybe this marks the start of this film's Oscar journey. The Lunchbox, featuring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui had its premiere at the International Critics' Week of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year where it won the audience award, Grand Rail d'Or and then went on to win the Audience Choice Award at the World Cinema Festival in Amsterdam.

The Lunchbox is slated to release in September 20th 2013 in India.
