Step Up: Bollywood Signature Steps

Bollywood is famous worldwide for various things; whether it's the dance, music, actors or culture, there's the one thing that always captures hearts and stays life-long: the signature step that defines an actor. These steps are embedded in our minds to such an extent that one glance at them, and one would automatically know which actor represents them. Today, BollyCurry is on a quest to enlighten your unfamiliar minds of a few of those steps.

Dev Anand's Head Nod

One actor that defined Indian cinema with his signature step was Dev Anand. No actor has perfected the nod quite like Anand. He loved the nod so much, it became a permanent step in his personal and professional dancing style.

Shammi Kapoor's Shake Your Body

Shake your body frantically and you have signature style of Shammi Kapoor. Kapoor incorporated this step in almost all his songs, which not only ruled the chartbusters, but also earned him the name, Elvis Presley of India. Interestingly, this style was invented by him and went on to become dancers' favourite.

Sunny Deol's Leg Stomping

Remember the song "Yaara O Yaara" from movie Jeet? While you might not remember the song well, you will definitely remember leg stomping step. The song first saw the step making it an instant hit, not only for the song, but for the step as well. The step earned so much recognition that it became a trademark for Deol.

Shah Rukh Khan's Romantic Arm Spread

While we speak of trademark steps, how can we forget Shah Rukh Khan? It all started with Baazigar, where he set out to woo his lady love and then there was no looking back. The step became a cult to romance and if one looks back, most of his movies have him performing his cult step. Spread your arms with a smile and voila, everyone turns into Khan.

Hrithik Roshan's Fist Pumping

As we talk about certain signature style, Hrithik Roshan cannot be missed in the list. His dance performances have always been brilliant and has turned him into the ideal dancer across the globe. However, his fist pumping move from song "Ek Pal Ka Jeena" from movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai made him a star overnight!

While these were the few which made it to the list, we have others too, like Salman Khan who has introduced major cult steps in Indian Cinema - shirtless, his towel dance or moving the pants belt up and down, Khan has given us all. As we talk about Khan, Govinda's thumkas, Mithun Chakraborty's Disco dance or Jeetendra">Jeetendra's "taaki", comes to mind. Jumping jack move cannot be missed! Missed someone?
