One of the most anticipated films of the year, Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do is all set to release in theatres on the 5th of June, as it premiers during the prestigious IIFA awards, to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, later this year. The ensemble cast consists of stalwarts of the Hindi film industry, including the likes of Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Priyanka Chopra, Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, Farhan Akhtar, and Rahul Bose. This is the first time that Kapoor will be playing a father to grown adults, and also the first time that Chopra and Singh will be sharing screen space as siblings, and are not romantically paired opposite one another.

The magical trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy reunite with the legendary lyricist Javed Akhtar to weave magic on the screens with their foot tapping music and soulful lyrics. With the stakes running high, especially after their phenomenal outing with Zindagi Milegi Naa Dobara's (2011) album, the album of Dil Dhadakne Do is eagerly anticipated by one and all. Without further ado, do read on for BollyCurry's review of the album.

The album opens with the title track, "Dil Dhadakne Do", sung by Farhan Akhtar and Priyanka Chopra. Chopra, who's made a name for herself in the American music circuit, finally makes her debut in the Bollywood music industry with this song. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music is definitely a winner, but it feels as if Chopra's and Akhtar's voices are too husky for such an upbeat song. Nevertheless, the colorful visuals and the beats are sure to make this one a hit amongst the youth of today, and it most definitely deserves a place on your party playlist!

Next up in the album is Siddharth Mahadevan and Sukriti Kakkar's "Pehli Baar". This classical rock composition is a very fresh genre for the average Bollywood listener, and Mahadevan's vocals are definitely the high point of this number. The song definitely deserves one chance and grows on to the listener after a point.

The popular Punjabi dance number "Gallaan Goodiyaan" is next on the list, and it is clearly the best of the lot. The song is voiced by a number of singers, including Sukhwinder Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, Farhan Akhtar, and Yashita Sharma. It is accompanied by the extremely catchy Punjabi beats which ensure that this number is definite to remain on everyone's mind for a very long time. A special mention has to be given to Akhtar's inane and quirky lyrics, which makes this song the popular favorite amongst all!

Sunidhi Chauhan's "Girls Like to Swing", picturized on the gorgeous Anushka Sharma, is an interesting jazz composition, and Chauhan has done complete justice to the song. The instrumental interludes and the genre are reminiscent of the famous Spanish "Senorita" from Zindagi Milegi Naa Dobara, and this song appears to be the equivalent to it. Though not as legendary as "Senorita", "Girls Like to Swing" is a sure winner in the dance circuit.

The album comes to a close with "Phir Bhi Yeh Zindagi", voiced by Farhan Akhtar, Vishal Dadlani, Alyssa Mendosa, and Divya Kumar, and is easily the weakest song in the album. The voices sound horribly mismatched and the beginning feels as if one turned it on right in the middle of the song.

The album is nothing as spectacular as that of Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara's, but it cannot be denied that Dil Dhadakne Do's album is one of the best of the year. We, at BollyCurry, rate this album 3.5 out of 5 stars. Given the hype and extreme anticipation associated with this film, clubbed with the initial success of the album, it can be concluded that the movie is possibly going to rock the Box Office and emerge as one of the biggest hits of the year. With this, we wish all the very best to Akhtar and her cast, and look forward to watching the film on 5th June.
