DJ Bolli Speaks: The Foreign Edition

Probably from the beginning of time, there has been fusion in Bollywood music. Okay, maybe not beginning of time but definitely for a long time! 

Songs within the Bollywood scene have contained lyrics from various Indian languages, not just necessarily Hindi. There have even been English lyrics thrown into songs for, oh, many years now. What, did you think this was a new thing? Does no one remember "My name is Anthony Gonzalez"?

What I've been noticing is, though - now these languages that have been thrown into the various songs are no longer confined to the languages from our Motherland, or even English, the most widely-used language world over. No, now we have French and Spanish being thrown in for good measure.

Don't get me wrong - I've enjoyed listening to "Te Amo" and "O Girl, You're Mine" and "Senorita" as much as the next person. This DJ is as guilty as all others of having played these songs countless times for the masses to dance to. But what happened to the songs of yesteryear? When Hindi lyrics were all one needed to woo their lady love or mourn their lost ones or just generally dance to?
