Ganesh Chaturthi in Bollywood Songs

 

Ganesh Chaturthi is a 10-day long, Hindu festival that marks the rebirth of the son of Shiva and Parvati, Lord Ganesha. The festival is celebrated all across India, but with more vigour in states like Maharashtra and Gujarat where huge idols of Ganesha are decorated and offered prayers to. At the end of the celebrations, the idols are immersed in water. While Indians celebrities use social networking sites and other means of media to send across their wishes and greetings to their fans, Bollywood itself is not left behind on this auspicious occasion. The much celebrated festival has been filmed in many movies and song sequences. Following are some of our perennial favourites, from the recent times, at BollyCurry.

"Deva Shree Ganesha" (Agneepath): The huge drum, nagada, is well used in the music for this track and it is a powerful number, filmed on Hrithik Roshan, that praises the deity and strengthens one's belief in the Lord through the song. The strong lyrics and the accompanying beats resonate closely with Lord Ganesha's devotees.

Although the track is all-praises for Ganpati, it manages to get you grooving to its non-stop beats. We often hear this also playing at the pandals.

"Tera Hi Jalwa" (Wanted): With a desi touch to this number, this carefree number generates quite a foot-tapping and grooving stance. Pictured on Salman Khan, this song became a street-favourite with the kind of celebrations shown all through the streets of India.

"Deva Ho Deva" (Humse Badhkar Kaun): With the chants of praise of Ganesha, this is a classic number associated with this festival. The beats and drums take you into a devotional mood along with the legendary vocals of late Muhammad Rafi and Asha Bhosle.

"Sadda Dil Vi Tu" (ABCD: Any Body Can Dance): Last on our list is this track full of rhythmic beats that gets you tapping your feet and dancing to its tunes, while its visually very colorful as well. The colours and tune all conspire to get you hooked.
