If one terms a father the most important man in a
child's life, there is nothing wrong with the statement. For he can be a
friend, the always present "go-to-guy", that one person with whom we
can share our loneliness and the man with the strength of mountains
within him as he lets his most beloved child go to meet their destiny.
Fathers have many shades to them and Bollywood songs have portrayed
those shades brilliantly. Hence on this special occasion of Father's Day
BollyCurry has compiled a list of some songs which showcase the
different sides of a father.
Papa Kehte Hain
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak
A
father always wants the best for his child. Such was the case in this
song where the son, the young
Aamir Khan in his chocolate boy looks with
a guitar in his hands, sang at his college farewell about how his
father is sure that he'd be a great person one day. But the thing was,
he was still undecided about the future. This song became the anthem of
all the youngsters back in 1988 when
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak
released and even today, this is one song which almost everyone can
recognize. Because it's all about a young boy who says he isn't sure
about his career oriented future but what he does know is that he'll
create a love story which will be remembered by all. We aren't sure if
the Papa exactly approved of that notion but hey! All's fit if the
song's fit, right?
Papa Ki Pari Hoon Main
Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon
For
no one can pamper a daughter like a father. That is exactly what
Kareena Kapoor sung in this song. Going through the age where every
mother gets worried about settling her daughter with whomever seems
right for her, this song portrays the feelings of a pampered daughter
who says she won't settle for anything less than Perfect for her. And
why not? After all she's the "Pari" of her father like the songs title
aptly signifies. In a world where around us the existence of daughters
is more a cause of worry than comfort, this song is all about that
lighter side where fathers are always loving and the daughters say this
fact out loud proudly to the world.
Daddy Cool
Chaahat
What's
the fun in life if we don't have a father with whom we can bicker and
get away with it? Such was the case between Shahrukh Khan and Anupam
Kher in the movie
Chaahat.
Anupam Kher is distraught over the fact
that his only son, played by Shahrukh Khan, has become old enough to
get married and that he might just start flirting with girls for fun. To
save such situation from happening, he's on the mission to look for a
wife for his son so that he can settle down, an idea which doesn't go
down too well with the son. Throughout the song, the father-son bicker
over the whole marriage business; while the son is adamant that he won't
settle down because the prospective bride might just ruin the peaceful
world of the father and son, the father insists that all will be well as
he's ready to compromise about anything as long as the son's married.
Well, the ultimate result of the battle remains undecided because the
father keeps telling the world that his son's a fool while the son begs
him to cool down. But it does provide a fun listen.
Papa Mere Papa
Main Aisa Hi Hoon
A father is the first and ultimate hero in a daughter's life. And the young girl in the movie
Main Aisa Hi Hoon tells
the world beautifully about her mentally challenged father played by
Ajay Devgn. Because the love which a child has for the parents is always
of the different kind, the one which doesn't follow the norms and
notions set by the society. If the world laughed at the father for being
clumsy, the daughter showed it like how her father is the reason the
world laughs. It's all about that silver lining. And such is the honesty
in her love that at the end everyone had to confess, there is no one
more precious than her father.
Akele Hum Akele Tum
Akele Hum Akele Tum
And
at the end of the day, a father just needs the unconditional warmth of
his son.
Aamir Khan plays the father of a young son and the duo
literally have nothing other than each other in the world. A wife that
moved on to pursue her dreams, a house falling apart because of the lack
of proper care and a life without any comfort; such is the backdrop of
the song. But all one can hear in this song is the love which a father
has for his son and saying if they have each other, there can be no
sadness in life big enough to affect the bliss they share with each
other. And to all those doting words, the child lovingly replies, "Oh, I
love you Daddy..." Yes, that's the cue for a warm tear to flow.
Papa The Great
Papa The Great
Be
it Superman or just an average Joe; a father is always the child's
superhero. Such is what this song says. The movie is all about a peace
loving, harmless kind of a father who gets tangled in a web made by some
gangsters. In the song, the young son sings about all the endearing
qualities which his father has taught the son; about always being brave,
always seeing the positive side in any situation and never giving up
hope. And the father replies in a doting manner just how special his son
is for him. A song full of affections if one had to describe it.
Babul Ki Duaein
Neel Kamal
And
when it's the time to go, it's the father who is saddened the most yet
puts on the bravest front. In our society, the most inevitable reality
is that a girl will have to leave the home where was born and brought up
to lead her life with her life companion and with people who are
nothing but strangers to her. This doesn't come easy to the parents no
matter how much they wish for this day to come and this 1968 depicts a
father sending his daughter off with prayers and wishes that she'd lead
such a happy life in her in-laws that she'd forget all about her birth
family. Something which would only evoke a flood of emotions in everyone
who is either sending off or being sent off. Oh well, sentiments
understood and the song is evergreen because the emotions are immortal
for as long as this ritual will exist, such prayers would always be
made.
These were
handful of songs dedicated to fathers which hands down portrays the
different faces of a father. Be it as a superhero or a helpless one
sending his daughter away, the one who is proud of his child and has
woven many dreams of their future. At the end of the day, father is a
father who gives his child the unconditional love and support from the
time they hold them in their hands and throughout their lives. On this
special occasion of Father's Day we at BollyCurry would like to wish all
the fathers a very Happy Father's Day.
