Music n' Masti : Mother's Day Edition!

Comments  Comments [ 6 ]    By Nabila K. | 09 May 2010 | 11:29am

Welcome to another take of Music 'N' Masti!

Yes, its not a Friday when we put up the chartbusters - but the reason is the extra special occasion this Sunday, that must be well accredited!

And so we come together to salute mommies all over the world with this week's special Mothers' Day MnM!

5. Yeh Bandhan Tho
Music: Rajesh Roshan
Whilst this piece can be applied to many different relationships, the message is clear - the love between a mother and child is forever, even after death.  Alka Yagnik's soothing vocals command another listen, interlacing Rajesh Roshan's composition beautifully.

4.  Teri Ungli Pakad Ke

Film: Laadla
Singers: Jyotsna Hardikar, Udit Narayan
Music: Anand Milind
A classic song that we couldn't afford to miss on this chart!  Where Anil Kapoor's devotion to his mother has moved many to tears, the work of Udit Narayan coupled with Anand Milind reminds us of a sweeter time gone by.

3. Luka Chuppi

Film: Rang De Basanti
Singers: Lata Mangeshkar, A.R. Rehman
Music: A.R. Rehman
With both Lata and Rahman on the soundtrack, is it any wonder that this sombre tone is a winner?  Luka Chuppi is not the happy celebration song for motherhood, it is a commemoration of the fact nonetheless! A beautiful composition which only knows how to touch a new chord with each hearing.

2.  Mumma

Film: Dasvidanya
Singers: Kailash Kher
Don't be surprised if you haven't heard of this little gem!  Whilst the movie was given a small budget and kept a low profile, it still managed to attract sooty singer Kailash Kher who makes this sweet and simple ode, just perfect! A dying son's insignificant but thoughtful ode to his mother!

1. Maa

Film: Taare Zameen Par
Singers: Shankar Mahadevan
Music: Shankar-Ehsan-Loy
From this lighthearted tale about the carefree and confused days of childhood comes a heart-tugging rendition that plays on the insecurities, fears and of course, the love a child feels for his mother.
