Legendary mega popstar Michael Jackson has passed away at 2.26PM local time on 26th June 2009 at the UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles. Cardiac arrest was said to be the cause of death by the Coroner of LA, Fred Corral, who also added that an autopsy will be done later today.

50 year old Jackson was suffering from skin cancer and was taking heavy medications much to the concern of his well-wishers. In the morning on 26th he had some medical emergency in his home in Holmby Hill where paramedics were called and he was taken to the hospital immediately. But he did not survive the coma and left the world. Sources say that mother Katherine and sister La Toya hurried to the med-center as soon as they got the news.

Jackson has been a revolutionary singer in his life. His albums Thriller, Bad, Dangerous, Moonwalk and many more have made a superlative mark on the music lovers. His death was a huge loss to the musical world. Hundreds and thousands of fans are in mourning. Many had gathered outside the hospital when they heard that he was there.

Before his sudden demise, the busy singer was going to perform at O2 Arena in Greenwich, London for the "50-date Farewell Residency". Due to his health issues he had to reschedule his earlier dates and his supporters had to rebuff the fact that he had skin cancer. Yet he was reported to have disallowed cosmetic treatment even when visible discrepancies were seen in his skin and face. Due to this he had to force his children Prince Michael, Paris Michael Katherine and Prince Michael II to wear veils to hide from the media.

1958 born Jackson started his musical career, at the age of eleven, in a band with his five brothers who called themselves, Jackson Five. Later he started singing solo and soon became famous for his unique pop style and dancing moves. It did not take a long time for Jackson to become a cultural icon....the "King Of Pop".

He won the Grammy 13 times, a record which reflects his popularity beyond words. "Michael's career transcends musical and cultural genres and his contributions will always keep him in our hearts and memories." said Neil Portnow, CEO of Recording Academy.

In India he was the most famous star. Aspiring singers and dancers never stop talking about his moves and styles. Recently in a reality show a whole part of the episode was dedicated to his dances. All the participants and judges were ga-ga over Jackson's songs and dances.

The whole world is in shock and grief. "I am completely shocked and saddened by Michael's death. My heart goes out to his children and his family." his ex-wife and singer Lisa Marie Presley said tearfully. Pop diva Madonna said she could not stop crying over the sad news.

Jackson's life was tainted with allegations of child abuse and kidnapping. Due to this in his later part of life he kept a low key. But people who have worked with him cannot stop talking about his musical brilliance. ""I was lucky enough to know and work with Michael Jackson in his prime. Michael was an extraordinary talent and a truly great international star. He had a troubled and complicated life and despite his gifts, remains a tragic figure. My wife, Deborah, and I will always have great affection for him." lauds John Landis, the director of the music videos "Thriller" and "Black or White".

May God bless this immense musical supremo's soul.
