Celebs on Snapchat

It seems like eons ago when the only sources of information on your favourite Bollywood celebrities were magazines or the occasional TV interviews. Then the Internet came along, and now it takes just a tap of a few buttons to dig into the celebrities' lives. Things got even easier with social media - between Twitter updates and Instagram photos, the celebrities themselves were sharing their lives with their fans. And the latest addition to the social media army is the app Snapchat.

"What is Snapchat?", some of you may ask. Snapchat is a mobile app that allows you to send photos and videos that can only be viewed for a few seconds. It is a fun messaging app in which the message content can be edited with captions or graphics if you so wish, and sent to the friends you have on your account. Or alternatively, you could add the media snippets to your "story", a 24-hour collection of your photos and videos that can be broadcasted to your followers or the world.

Having gained a large audience abroad and many Hollywood celebrity accounts, Snapchat is slowly starting to gain traction in Bollywood as well. Many big names have now joined the app, giving us an insider look at their glamourous lives, and reducing the distance between fans and their idol just a little bit more.

One of the most frequent users of the app is probably Jacqueline Fernandes, username jacqueen143. Not only does she post behind-the-scenes of photoshoots and interviews, she also frequently posts videos of herself taking followers along on her day. Recently, she is giving us regular updates on her Housefull 3 promotions. Many of her celebrity friends feature on her account on a regular basis. Just today we saw her hanging out with current co-stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Lisa Haydon, and Jackie Shroff at the HT Most Stylish 2016.

Not far behind is Sonakshi Sinha, with the username aslisonasnap, who also posts behind-the-scenes photos and rehearsals of her performances. Sonakshi is also an avid painter and posts many pictures of her colorful artwork. Adding a dash of humor to her snaps, Sonakshi is definitely one of the most interesting celebrities! She also updates followers on her day, any trips she takes, and fun with friends and family. Just today, she shared what she's up to on her trip to Miami, including seeing some gorgeous animals.

Sonam Kapoor, username sonamakapoor, posts many behind-the-scenes videos and photos of her glamourous photoshoots and what it takes to be always impeccably styled. She also shares moments of her hanging out with friends and family. She was very active during her trip to the Cannes. Her snapstory today was dedicated to the HT Most Stylish 2016, where the young fashionista won an award.

While these three have the most active public profiles of all the Bollywood celebrities, there are others who have also joined Snapchat. Parineeti Chopra under username ChopraParineeti, does have an account, but has not been very active lately. Among the other notable names are Neha Kakkar, Evelyn Sharma and singer Armaan Malik.
