Trailer Review - Te3n

When three of the most talented actors in the industry come together in a Sujoy Ghosh movie, one knows that it will be a cinematic experience of its own. We're talking about none other than the upcoming movie Te3n, that unites (for the first time in Indian Cinema) three stalwarts of the industry - Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

The second scene in the trailer shows John Biswas (Amitabh Bachchan) asking cop Sarita Sarkar (Vidya Balan) if she has any information, to which she denies, and asks him why has he been asking this question for the past eight years. His dedication and determination to find his granddaughter who disappeared 8 years ago is what drives the rest of the film, which takes a turn when a similar incident takes place. Mysteriously connected to the kidnappings is a Catholic priest, Father Martin (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who is compelled by Sarkar to assist in the investigation of the new kidnapping.

Given how the movie is set in Kolkata, the movie seems to bear an uncanny resemblance to Ghosh's last outing, Kahaani (2013), especially since Balan and Siddiqui were in Kahaani as well. The director, Ribhu Dasgupta, has managed to capture the locales of Kolkata in a poignant manner, even shooting a few scenes in the Victorian Era Writers' Building in Kolkata. However, it is the fast paced manner in which the intensely emotional plot moves ahead that makes the trailer so engaging.

Such is Dasgupta's fine direction that it seems as if every frame and shot has more to it than what meets the eye, leaving the viewer curious for more. This, coupled with the brilliant acting from the lead trio, gives the entire thing an almost intriguing edge.

Te3n is said to be an unofficial remake of the 2013 Korean thriller Montage, with a Korean actually co-producing the movie. The similar premise of both the films, however, does prompt the audiences to draw parallels between them. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to watch how Dasgupta adapts the story for an Indian setting.

Initially scheduled to release on the 20th of May, the makers of the film decided to push the release of the movie to avoid a clash with the Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-Randeep Hooda-Richa Chaddha starrer Sarabjit. Now slated to release on the 10th of June, the riveting trailer of Te3n has surely created an impact in the minds of the audience.

If you haven't already watched the trailer, we at BollyCurry strongly encourage you to head over to YouTube or your favorite video streaming website and watch it! We are definitely excited for the release of this film, and wish all the best to Sujoy Ghosh and his team!
