GK Bloopers: Not Their Mistake

BollyCurry would like to welcome you to the 2015 Class of Independence. Today's topic is general knowledge, or GK. However, this is not your average lesson in GK, it's the special GK Bloopers: Not Their Mistake! That's right. Today BollyCurry will show you that no matter how big of a star you are in the Indian film fraternity, there is always a "logical" reason to why they make mistakes...or so they say.

Q: Who's the President of India?
A: Prithviraj Chauhan
Q: What does BJP stand for?
A: Err...
Embarrassed, anyone? Maybe the first class students who know these answers by heart? Alia Bhatt proved that GK is not her strength and became the butt of a thousand blonde jokes with her rather amazing answers to two rather simple questions. To top it off, she answered these questions on Koffee with Karan. Karan, maybe this Student of the Year needs to go back to school? Nonetheless, we feel for you Alia. After all, your schooling may not have included a course in GK and not everyone needs to know the meaning of BJP. That's probably only for those Bollywood and TV celebs who aspire to become a future politician, which we guess isn't one of your aspirations.

Q: Who's the President of India?
A: Manmohan Singh
Excuse us for not breaking out in hoots at this answer, not that we don't do that enough when Varun Dhawan appears on screen. But sadly Dhawan has proven that he's another student not ready to graduate just yet. He may have studied in the UK, but such questions are basics when it comes to knowing about India, though we do understand...a little. If Daddy Dhawan had concentrated more on Beta No. 2 i.e. Varun Dhawan, instead of his slue of No .1 movies, then maybe he would not have to face national embarrassment.

Q: Who's the CM of Maharashtra?
A: Ashok Chavan
"Very sad to hear about the passing of ABJ Kalam Azad." (sic) (c)Twitter
To be fair, Anushka Sharma was correct in her answer. After all, Ashok Chavan was the previous CM of Maharashtra and the question did not specify that it has to be the current CM. So don't worry Ms. Sharma, we're with you on this one. Totally. Don't worry, pull a Bhairavi (a character from Badi Door Se Aaye Hain on Sab TV) and go "baad main matlab batane ka kya matlab, Karan?" (what's the use in explaining the meaning afterwards, Karan?) because obviously it was Karan's fault that he didn't explain that he meant the current CM of Maharashtra.
Of course, we also totally understand the misspelling of A.P.J. and the sudden addition of Azad. Autocorrect is to blame, specifically Apple's iPad's autocorrect. It just made the P into a B and added an Azad at the end instead of Abdul at the beginning. Don't worry Ms. Sharma, we're on your side again. We'll help you file a case against Apple to show that your GK of India is up to par.

Q: Who said "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"?
A: Robert De Niro
100% goes to our favourite fashionista Sonam Kapoor for this answer because again Karan did not specify who originally stated the quote. Implying it just doesn't do anymore, Karan! Coincidentally, why is it that all the GK bloopers keep coming out in his show? Nonetheless, we find it rather interesting that Kapoor turned directly to the Hollywood industry for her answer where she aspires to be more like Daddy Anil.

"Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of one of the most inspirational Indians of r time, former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Azad. RIP". (sic) (c)Twitter
Once a mistake, twice a felony, or so it should be in the case of Apple. Apple, why are you after Farhan Akhtar as well now? Is it not enough that the world enjoys jokes at the expense of him and Pitaji Javed Akhtar (note how Daddy suddenly become Pitaji in a sign of respect to Hindi and Urdu)? Farhan Akhtar may have fallen under the jokes radar for his poor knowledge on Abdul Kalam, but we know that he didn't do it on purpose. Rather it was the autocorrect of the iPad he was using that made him make that mistake.

So, what did we learn today? We learnt that while our Bollywood celebs have commited some attrocious GK mistakes, it is not their fault. After all, in some cases the questions were not properly worded, in other cases we blame autocorrect and in some extreme cases, their upbringing was at fault. So don't worry Bollywood, even with your extreme GK bloopers, we know that it just isn't your fault.
