March 23rd saw the annual L'Oreal Paris Femina Women Awards being held and as expected, the event was graced by many Bollywood stars. On a night when women in all fields are awarded for their excellence, BollyCurry's Fashion Police decided to cast a quick look at the red carpet and we must say that for once we are quite pleased!

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

One of L'Oreal's brand ambassadors, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan graced the event in a black Sabyasachi Mukherji outfit. She paired the attire with black sky high Fendi heels, Maithili Kabre earrings, a delicate bracelet as well as a black Sabya clutch. With minimal makeup, a sleek ponytail and stricking red lips, Mrs. Bachchan looked young, stunning, and every bit the woman who won the Miss World crown in 1994. The outfit helped accentuate her figure and looked simple yet elegant, yet we have a tiny grouch with the footwear. As gorgeous as they are, the outfit demands enough of your attention that the shoes seem a little distracting. Simple straps would've fared better. Rating: 4.5/5

Sonam Kapoor

From one fashionista and brand ambassador to the next, Sonam Kapoor walked the red carpet in a floor-sweeping baby pink Toni Matichevski gown. She paired the look with dainty jewellery by Gehna, Manolo Blahniks and a Judith Leiber bow clutch. While she looked gorgeous and everybit the fairytale princess - a tried and tested formula that Kapoor has perfected - we can't ignore the visible underskirt. Nonetheless, with make-up that accentuates her envious cheekbones and a smile that can dazzle hearts, she does well. Although a softer lip colour would be better, no? Rating: 4/5

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif, also a brand ambassador, showed up in a Ports 1961 black strapless gown. She combined it with diamond jewellery by Gehna, a slick ponytail and nude makeup . All in all, Ms. Kaif kept it simple and stylish. However, the dress appears a little outdated and "busy" to us. The the bottom half of the gown seems like it could do without the overload of sequins, which would then allow the sheer material to get its due. A brighter lip colour would've also spiced up the overall look. We wish Kaif would venture out of her comfort zone and give us a style to talk about but for now, she passes. Rating: 3/5

Neha Dhupia

Neha Dhupia attended the event in a monochrome gown by Rocky S. We have no qualms with the gown at all and it looks absolutely gorgeous on the actress, especially when she paired it with a black Bottega clutch, dangling Anmol fringe earrings and a high bun. Neck down, Dhupia looked stunning, but neck up and we cringe. Going heavy on the bronzer is making her look almost orange and is not working well with the outfit at all. Being a red carprt pro, we're quite surprised that Dhupia took this road. A softer approach would have definitely worked better. Rating: 4/5

Huma Qureshi

The 60th Filmfare Awards was all about capes, but it seems that the style is still lingering as Huma Qureshi arrived in a black, strapless Mayyur Girotra gown with a sheer, embroidered border cape. Ms. Qureshi, take our suggestion and get that cape shortened, preferably to a mid-thigh length. While it is certainly beautiful, it comes across as overbearing and thus took the shine out of the beautiful Gehna jewellery, smokey eyes and the tight bun that Qureshi sported. Rating: 3/5

Nawazuddin Siddiqui

Finally, we cast a look at one of the lone males who attended the event - Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Mr. Siddiqui isn't only a great actor but also an extraordinary style statement as well. Instead of the usual black suit and white shirt you see most men don, Mr. Siddiqui took fashion for men a notch higher with a light grey suit, a pale blue shirt and a purple striped tie. He completed the look with shining black shoes. We approve Mr. Siddiqui, we approve oh so much. We do wish you would do away with the beard and moustache, though! Rating 4.5/5

The L'Oreal Paris Femina Women Awards are held to honour women who have excelled in all aspects of life and yet one can't help but praise the red carpet for its glamorous turn-out with some stunning and some not-so-stunning appearances. Our hearty congratulations go out to the winners and may both the awards and the red carpet for future events be just as smashing!
