Happy Birthday Salman Khan!

Today, December 27th, celebrates the birthday of Bollywood's Dabangg Khan. The actor, the entertainer, the humanitarian, the occasional bad boy but a man with a golden heart. Yes, we're talking of the magnanimous Salman Khan!

Born in 1965, the legendary scriptwriter Salim Khan is his father while Sushila Charak is his mother. Yesteryear star Helen is his stepmother. Salman is the also the eldest brother to four other siblings; Arbaaz Khan, Arpita Khan, Sohail Khan and Alvira Khan.

Salman began his career in a supporting role in 1988 with Biwi Ho To Aisi but received his first call to success in 1989 with the mega blockbuster flick, Maine Pyar Kiya. From there, with a few dull lulls here and there, there was no looking back for the actor as he rapidly continued to climb the ladder of success. A few of his notable works include Andaz Apna ApnaHum Aapke Hain Koun...!Karan ArjunKhamoshi: The MusicalPyaar Kiya To Darna KyaKuch Kuch Hota HaiBiwi No.1Partner, DabanggBodyguardReady, Dabangg 2 and Ek Tha Tiger. He was also recognized internationally with Phir Milenge where he played the role of an AIDS patient and in the Hollywood movie, Marigold. While Salman didn't have any movies released in 2013, he has several movies lined up including Jai Ho and Kick in 2014, and No Entry Mein Entry in 2015.

With almost eighty Hindi films in his kitty, some being the highest grossers of the year, Salman has stamped himself as one of India's leading actors. This has been proved by his two Filmfare awards and one National award amongst many others, including countless nominations.

Salman is also a philanthropist with one of his ongoing accomplishments include setting up the charitable non-governmental organization called Being Human. The foundation sells merchandise with the aim of sharing it's proceedings with the underprivileged in the healthcare and education sector. His generous givings has lead to him winning the IIFA award for Habitat Humanity Ambassadorship.
