Happy Birthday Ranveer Singh!

You may recognize this song from the movie, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl. And today happens to be the day that this notorious Ricky Bahl first entered the world. Yes! We are talking about the one, and the only, Ranveer Singh! Born to Jagjit Singh Bhavnani and Anju Bhavnani in Mumbai, on July 6^th, 1985, Ranveer turns 28 today. Singh, like the many celebrities in Bollywood has family connections with the industry. He has an elder sister, Ritika Bhavnani, and is a cousin of the Bollywood diva Sonam Kapoor and her sister, Rhea Kapoor.

During his childhood, he had aspired to be an actor. But gave up on this dream while studying at H.R. College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai. After studying in Mumbai, Ranveer moved to the US and completed a BA degree from Indiana University. On coming back to Mumbai, Ranveer worked for a few years in advertising as a copywriter and then as an assistant director, before going back to pursuing acting seriously. He would send his portfolio to directors, but never set out to actually begin his acting career. After 3 and a half years of looking for a role, he finally got called in for YRF's Band Baaja Baaraat, and as they say, the rest is history.

Ranveer became an overnight success and both viewers and critics praised him for his flawless acting skills. After Band Baaja Baaraat, Ranveer acted in Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, which was again declared a success and Ranveer was very much appreciated for his role of the con Ricky Bahl. His most recent movie is Lootera opposite Sonakshi Sinha, which released yesterday on July 5^th, just one day before his birthday. He has also signed on for Ram Leela, Gunday, and Kill Dil.
