Acclaimed Indian film director,
Karan Johar, has ceased to overcome
his joy when he received an official invitation for the opening
ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
Johar has
witnessed one of the foremost proud moments of
his life, as he and
India's Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, are the only two Indian
nationals to have been given such an honor. The Prime Minister's invite
was sent from his British counterpart, David Cameron, as a matter of
protocol.
In the past, we have seen many of
Johar's movies shot on location in Britain and it is fair to say he has
captured some of the best too. This may partially be due to Johar being
Visit Britain's official ambassador, who is also responsible for hosting
the Indian filmmaker for the event. The Visit Britain authorities have
maintained priority for the director in order for him to catch the
opening ceremony in a special box reserved for the who's who of the
world, where he will be in the company of 506 dignitaries at the biggest
event in the world of sports.
It was said that
Johar had mentioned only a few days ago that he would not be caught up
in the London Olympics, despite it almost being his second home.
However, the tables have now turned and he feels extremely honored and
humbled by this invite, keeping excitement aside. He also went on to
state that 2012 Olympics is going to be a conglomerate of an epic
magnitude and its prestige is kept in high regard, so having a memory of
participating in it as a spectator will stay with him for a lifetime.
He concluded saying that this event is London's big-ticket and he's not
about to miss if for anything in the world.
Although
Johar has no particular interest in sports, he wishes to let his
presence become the support of India's participating sports-persons and
believes that the country will be well presented in the Olympics.
Johar
has recently been kept busy with the shooting for Student of The Year,
alongside judging the popular TV show, Jhalak Dhikla Ja 5; we hope this
break does him wonderfully.
