Only days
after the release of home production
Agent
Vinod, producer cum lead actor
Saif Ali Khan seems to be mulling over the
idea of following up the ambitious project with a sequel in 3D. Irrespective, it
seems, of the
lukewarm response at BO, the preceding high end controversy over
his blunt anti-Pak ban remarks, and the overall critical down-fare the movie
itself has received.
Initially,
we hear now, the original recent release was meant to be a 3D; but given Saif's
debatable interest in 3D cinema, and the fact that he was apprehensive of
audience response in general, the idea was dropped. Now however, buzz has it
that for his son's penchant of 3D movies, Chotte Nawab is willing to take a
second shot with a sequel.
He has
gone on the record to say only, that if the plan is carried through, and
official statement will be issued for the same, to effect, alongwith a complete
shelving of the cast, with the exception of
Vinod.
What about
Kareena Kapoor, he's asked, but Saif chooses to remain deliberately
tight lipped about that, dismissing it as
too
early to be discussed.
One has
to wonder if the sequel is as innocent a thought as fulfilling the wish of his
son – or merely to be an attempt of saving grace for a project much hyped, but
fallen flat? Also, the retention of Bebo being debatable raises eyes,
especially given their all set to be
married plans being indefinitely postponed. Could it be a consequence of unknown differences
on the personal front, or more the lack of definite approval that Saifeena have
failed to gain with repeated ventures of sharing screen space?
Amidst an
easily skipped recent release, much individual controversy, and alleged trouble in the
paradise, we wonder what really could motivate Saif to even give a second shot
to an AV-sequel.
Nonetheless,
whatever his plans, we wish him luck with a professional rebound. And
while he's at it, hopefully refrain from making public spectacles
anytime soon!
