Ranbir Kapoor in Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet

After an extended period of pre-production buzz, Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet has finally cast its leads. The film first made headlines in 2010, after reports circulated that this project would bring industry aces Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan together on the silver screen for the very first time.

Unfortunately, that plan never materialized, and Kashyap was sent in search of lead actors once again. After much wishful speculations on part of fans and insiders alike, the director is said to have zeroed in on Ranbir Kapoor and John Abraham.

Kashyap reportedly mentioned that Ranbir was a perfect fit for the role, and the actor is also eager to work with the critically acclaimed director.

Bombay Velvet takes inspiration from a number of fables surrounding the early years of the bustling city, tracking its journey to becoming the metropolis it is today. Kashyap has long been fascinated by the changes that Mumbai has undergone in a relatively short period of time, and he hopes that viewers too share this fascination.
