Rascals not a rip-off?

Rumors are rife that David Dhawan's next flick - Rascals - is actually 'inspired' by Hollywood's Dirty Rotten Scroundels.

But (somewhat predictably) David and producers Rupali Aum Entertainment and Sajay Dutt Production's have vehemently denied claims to similarities.  The Hollywood counterpart, starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine, revolves around two thugs who's attempt to work together fails miserably.

Coincidentally (surprise, surprise!) the plot of Rascals also centres around two thugs (this time Ajay Devgan and Sanjay Dutt).  However a spokesperson for David Dhawan has insisted that the two movies bear no connection, thereby trashing the controversy.

However considering Bollywood's fascination with being 'inspired' by it's fair 'n' far land counterpart, Hollywood, we give a very reluctant benefit to doubt to Dhawan and co.!
