"Dashavatar" is based on ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu and has been directed by Bhavik. It has been produced by Pune-based Anushvi Productions in association with Phoebus Creations Media Pvt. Ltd.

Two children Aarti and Ajay escape from kidnappers and take shelter in an abandoned temple. The kidnapper and his henchmen arrive and set fire to the temple door trying to burn them. As the girl prays to the idol of Lord Krishna, pleading to be saved, it seems by some miracle her prayers are answered and the goons get a beating. A ‘pujari’ appears which prompts the boy Ajay to believe that they were saved by him. But the ‘pujari’ who is none other than Lord Vishnu's devotee Narad assures the children that it was none other than the Lord himself who is their saviour. But the boy is skeptical. Narad now decides to prove the Lord's power and his role as a saviour and tricks the children into reciting a mantra which sends them hurtling into space, their dress and appearance changes to a traditional look.

They are transported in time when the world is facing a cosmic dissolution. Lord Brahma the creator is now resting through the night waiting for the dissolution of the world before he starts creation for a new age. (Brahmadev creates through the day which spans millions of years and the dissolution takes place in just one night). While sleeping the Vedas slip out of Brahmadev's mouth and a demon Hayagreev decides to absorb these Vedas, which is seen by an Apsara who panics and approaches Narad muni to stop the catastrophe. Now Lord Vishnu appears to fulfill the cosmic destiny of selecting the 'Manu' to carry civilization forward and save the Vedas for mankind.

What follows is ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu as seen by the children.

Some facts-

*The Indian animation industry today is merely scratching the surface of our vast treasure of stories and the one with the largest canvas is ‘Dashavatar’, with its ten superheroes pitted against the vilest villains ever.

*Dashavatar leads into mythical times that every Indian knows about, but hasn't had to chance to visit it, this film has been made to provide just that.

*This is true about the rest of the world too, very little is known about our mythology. It would enthrall the world when they see that Ram and Krishna are two out of a legion of ten.

*The time is just right for a film like ‘Dashavatar’, when the whole world is searching for majestic themes.

*Dashavatar is a film that would have instant universal appeal for its entertainment value, sensible content, technical finesse and production values of international standards.

*Dashavatar weaves together the fascinating stories of Ram, Krishna, Parshuram, Vaman, Narsimha, Buddha and also the tales of Vishnu in earlier avatars – Matsya, Kurma and Varaha...and yes, finally - Kalki Avatar!

*Dashavtar is an odyssey through time, showing the values of the old world matching the sensibilities of the modern one...

*Dashavatar is the all-encompassing epic that celebrates the recurring triumph of good over evil – ten fold!

*The songs in the film have been written by today's rising poet, Sandeep Khare and composed by debutant music director, Anand Kurekar. They shall remain in the minds and lips of the audience for a long time. The songs are sung by Shankar Mahadevan, Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Shreya Ghoshal and others.

*The technical side has been handled by some of the best technicians in the industry. The sound design is by Bishwadeep Chatterji who has done many films like ‘Parineeta’, ‘Laaga Chunri Mein Daag’, ‘Eklavya’, Rituparno Ghosh's ‘Choker Bali.’

The film has been mixed at Yashraj Films Studio under the stewardship of Anuj Mathur.

‘Dashavatar’ would call in the audience for a repeated cinematic experience at the theatres and also earn a place in the movie rack in every home. -(SAMPURN)
