Dissapointed Barbara leaves India !

Latino actress Barbara Mori is said to be leaving India as a disappointed woman due to not having two of her wishes fulfilled.

The first, apparently, was her desire to see the Taj Mahal, which was made difficult by the promotional tours for the release of Kites, where she stars as a Spanish woman who falls for an Indian guy played by Hrithik Roshan.

The second reason for her disappointment was the hugely unfavourable response to the movie by Indian audience and critics!

Despite the movie grossing Rs 21 Crores on its very first day alone (beaten only by the opening-day grosser of 3 Idiots) and the rave reviews by US critics, the Indian audience felt let down after all the hype surrounding the movie.

So much so, that some screenings were even canceled in Bangalore after only the first day! The busy actress, who was spotted flitting between several multiplexes and theaters in Mumbai as part of her promotional tour, hotly claimed that the movie was a "different experience" when faced with the negative feedback.

Apparently the problem lies in the fact that the movie is 90% in English and Spanish, leaving fans to muddle through subtitles for the majority of the movie and thus deterring the majority of the Indian audience from viewing it. The heavy promotions and the repeated promise of a surreal cinematic experience may have attracted a large opening audience, but it seems as if the movie won't experience any long-running success, at least not in India!

For now, Barbara Mori is heading back to start her shoots in Venezuela before making her way back home to Mexico where she is all set to take the stage with a play. However, the good news for her Indian fans is that the actress plans to return next year to shoot another film, during which time she hopes to squeeze in a visit the Taj Mahal as well!

I'm not Indian, I live in Russia. I know English and Spanish, no Hindi, unfortunately. But I've enjoyed this movie immensely! It's different from usual Indian movies. The acting of the two leads was really good (surprisingly, to me)!
Ecpecially Hrithik's, he's grown as an actor in the last few years. And in dramatic moments in Kites he showed superb acting skills! A little more experience and India will, probably, have the first male actor ready to work alongside with the worldwide known Hollywood actors, in Hollywood movies. I mean not Bollywood-ish Hollywood, but real Hollywood movies! The man has everything to make it. I'm usually not into Indian movies, but he and Aishwarya cought my attention after Jodhaa Akbar, it was a beatifully filmed movie (not perfect, though). Now I'm watching all movies with Aishwarya and Hrithik in a chronological order. It's obvious how much Mr. Roshan has improved as an actor. I'm always happy to discover such talents to myself!

i don't understand, how does indian audience in India go and watch Hollywood Films, in English, but can't go and watch Kites which was in HIndi, English and Spanish.

This is the difference between HOllywood and Bollywood, Hollywood welcomes movies in other languages all the time, while bollywood fails to accept any other movie but bollywood, and people cry for a different movie, then Hello Kites was different.

She is from Mexico, a TV actress who is now aspiring to be an intyernational model and movie star, I guess the benchmark for all actresses is to act with SRK, because beforre she left she made a statement to the effect that she wants to act with SRK in her next Bollywood movie and she will be back.

the movie was ok types that to only because of hritik. most of the dialogs and the important ones too were in spanish. they did write the dialogs in hindi, but i missed most of them as i couldnt do the reading and watching the movie at the same time. i wish atleast they would have written the dialogs in both hindi and english so that people could read which ever was comfortable for them.

they should have dubbed the movie into hindi because OBVIOUSLY if the people can't understand most of the movie ..they are not gonna like it!

KITES IS AWESOME..IT'S UNIQUE
ANYTHING UNIQUE THE INDIAN AUDIENCE DONT LIKE THEY ARE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE AGES OF CRAP IN MOVIES TO TELLY SHOWS. THIS MOVIE IS UNIQUE AND MY OPINION AWESOME....IT'S SOMETHING OF A CHANGE FROM THE NORM AND I COMMEND THE ACTORS FOR TAKING THE STEP TO OPEN UP INDIA INDIANS TO MORE THAN JUST RONA DONA CRAP SEEN IN BOLLYWOOD TODAY.....HOPE BIG FOR THIS MOVIE....WE NEED MORE INTERNATIONAL FAVORED THEMES ASSOCIATED WITH BOLLYWOOD BUT THE PUBLIC WILL NOT ALLOW IT....SAD ON ALL ACCOUNTS.

Different?
I watched 15 minutes of the movie and I could tell the story right off from there. How is it different ?

Love stories and Indian public ..its like we people have watched so many of them that no matter what angle they show, we kind of get the idea.
