Hrithik takes up smoking!

Self-confessed fitness freak Hrithik Roshan has taken up some unhealthy habits, most notably his decision to start smoking. Or sort of.

The actor states that the cigarettes are for a purely professional reason, helping him prepare for his role in upcoming flick, Guzaarish. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who insists that his actors get under the skin of their characters, also ordered Hrithik to lose some muscle and put on some weight around the middle for his role as a paralysed man.

However the actor has firmly stated that he is not addicted and will give up the cancer sticks on May 21st, the release date for Kites.

The actor also has to juggle fitness demands with director Zoya Akhtar who wants him to put on five kilos of muscle so he can start shooting for Running with the Bulls. The perfectionist is determined to get back in shape and will be employing all his willpower over the next few days to get through the workouts and diets.

Here's wishing the actor all the best in his new health (mis)adventures and at the box office!

this is ridiculous!! i hv been his fan since his debut.. but i dun support him in this.. even deepika was supposed to b a smoker in karthik calling karthik.. she did smoke but nt a real one!!! she smoked de artificial ones.. hrithik cud have done de same if he wanted it..

plzzzzzz hrithik switch over to de artificial ones if u really want ur fans to believe tat u wont get addicted to those deadly things!!!

You gots to be kidding me.. and whats up with these directors nowadays...they are making the actors smoke..just to get "into the skin" of the character?!? RIDICULOUS! what are these directors..thinking?! seriously! they must educate themselves on health before.. having such expectations on actors..esp. on those..who don't smoke! ARGH! the message shld be to STOP smoking..and here you have a director.. "promoting" and "encouraging" smoking.. i mean.. SERIOUSLY! give me a BREAK!.. disgusting...

That's sad that they are making him smoke for a movie. They are playing with someones life just so he can look like a smoker in a movie. That is not cool at all. Good luck to Hrithik all the best to him and hopefully he is able to quit soon.
