Vivek Oberoi spent his Holi this year with the girls
from
his Devi initiative in Vrindavan. Devi, which stands for the development
and
empowerment of girls, is an initiative taken by the Yashodara Oberoi
Foundation. The foundation gives little girls in particular a chance at
education and provides them with nutrition and health care.
Vivek had a lot of fun with the girls. They recreated
Holi
the
way Krishna used to play it, on the banks of the river
Yamuna. He surprised the girls on their way home from school by picking
them up
in a bull cart. They were delighted to find that Vivek was the one
driving it.
He also told them Holi stories, and encouraged them to love one another.
Vivek's charity work with these underprivileged girls does not end here. He hopes one day to build a Pariyon Ka Mahal, a home for abandoned children. The children will be taken care of by abandoned mothers or women who have been abused and are in need of shelter and protection
