Akki's hairy obsession!

Akshay Kumar has a new love!  The action hero has become wildly possessive of his retro-wig on the sets of Vipul Shah's time-travel mania, Action Replay.


Designed by Hollywood make-up artist Paul Pattinson, the wig was specially crafted to give Akshay the 1970s look and has apparently become his most prized possession!  Furthermore, Pattinson has supervised the creation of another 400 wigs which are to be worn by the junior artists posing as people in a time several decades ago.


However, the need for perfection goes beyond just the wigs and vintage clothes.  Vipul Shah has worked hard to track down everything from privately owned 70s cars to authentic BEST buses used 40 years ago.  Shah was also adamant that the appearances of his leads Akshay and Aishwariya should distinctly differ from the ones adopted by Shah Rukh and Deepika in Om Shanti Om.


Both actors have worked hard to dig in to archive material; doing authentic research and watching real-life footage of cricket matches from the 1970s in order to copy the mannerisms and body language of that time.


The director is also keen to keep the unique look hushed until the right moment!


Of course, Bachan's look in Paa was also prematurely released and so when it comes to Action Replay, we wouldn't hold our breath Shah!
