Fashion Face-off ft. Ranveer Singh and Ranbir Kapoor

The movies Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Befikre, featuring the Bollywood heartthrobs Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh respectively in the lead roles, have been under the radar for quite some time now. Be it for the political controversy or the passionate chemistry, the movies made sure to get all the limelight because as the saying goes - no publicity is bad publicity. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has had a successful run at the box office and while Befikre is yet to release next month, the music already has us hooked. However, don't the songs "Channa Mereya" and "Khulke Dhulke" seem similar?

 

"Channa Mereya" saw Ranbir Kapoor sport a gold and beige Sabyasachi sherwani paired with a black pagdi and dhoti trousers. The embroidered lining on the pagdi perfectly juxtaposed against the heavily embroidered sherwani suit giving the to-be grooms major fashion inspiration for the wedding season. What stole our attention, however, were those mehndi laden palms and its not just any mehndi, it has got all your kalis and booties and everything! Ranbir Kapoor probably sparked a new trend but we're yet to be totally convinced whether this is a good idea or not. Nonetheless, an overall pleasing look from the Kapoor lad.

 

Stack up against this soul stirring number, which reminds us of the pain of unrequited love, is the fast paced, power packed, Punjabi number from Befikre.

 

"Khulke Dhulke" sees Ranveer Singh don a Divani creation. The YRF fashion line designed a heavy gold and cream sherwani with dhoti pants. However, instead of embroidery, the sherwani is checkered with gold sequin and embroidery only along the cuffs and neckline only. While the rest of the styling was kept simple, the spiked hair added the right finishing touches to this ethnic look. Singh looks effortless as he grooved to the beats of this bhangra number leaving us speechless and the only thing after that we could all do was swoon.
