A Very Star-Studded Diwali

Everybody loves dressing up at Diwali! After all, not only is the festival of lights a day for new beginnings, when it comes to B-Town, it is also the day for some of the most star-studded celebrity bashes of the year! This year's bashes were attended by everybody from yesteryear's stars to current heartthrobs and BollyCurry had a blast taking in what everybody was wearing.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

The ever-lovely Aishwarya Rai Bachchan sported two looks for the Bachchan Diwali bash held in Jalsa, Juhu - one for the puja, and one for the bash afterwards. Both outfits were in an understated off-white colour. The suit she wore for the puja was a white Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla creation speckled with golden gotta patti work. Paired with a layered diamond necklace, golden kadas with kundan embellished on them, silver kohlapuris and a tiny bindi, she was the embodiment of effortless class.

Her second outfit was a touch more elaborate. The off-white/cream lehanga was full of embellishments, with sequins and golden gotta patti work. The outfit was paired with the same jewellery, the only difference to her make-up was a brighter lip colour. The winged eyeliner, brown eye-shadow and coral lips looked elegant, as did the center-parted open hair.
Can we just say, wow?

Sonam Kapoor

Fashion-forward Sonam Kapoor was also in white at her own Diwali bash. She chose to wear the dupatta of her Anamika Khanna lehenga as a cape, which was quite the interesting choice! The lace embroidery on the outfit gave it a regal look and worn with a statement necklace, bangles, small earrings and a white potli, she really made it work. The sharp winged liner and sleek center-parted bun added to the overall regalness of her look. However, we could have done with a little more colour. Maybe a hint of pink or red? Something to just make the entire outfit pop.

Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif was all smiles in a golden Tarun Tahiliani sari at the Bachchan bash. The low-cut blouse emphasised the gorgeous actress' figure and the kundan and pearl necklace with small earrings worked well with the outfit. A small red bindi and gold sandals made her picture perfect. It was understated and beautiful.

Bipasha Basu

Newly-wed Bipasha Basu went the opposite direction, choosing to wear a black and gold Sabyasachi sari. The gold border and tassels made the look tasteful and elegant and minimal accessories meant that the focus was on her smile and her wedding ring! A pair of open-toe heels and a golden clutch were the only other accessories the new Mrs needed. Well, that and her handsome husband in black, of course. With a half-up, half-down hairstyle and classic red lips, we have to say she looked radiant.

Jacqueline Fernandes

The always put-together Jacqueline Fernandes attended the Kapoor bash in a bright raw mango weave. The pink silk of the sari was a stark contrast to the blue of her high-neck blouse, and boy, was it something different. A layered necklace and big earrings from Sri Hari Diagems, golden peep toe heels, a gold clutch and some rings made a more traditional look work. The actress started the night with her hair up with a mogra, but ended it with her hair in a ponytail. Somebody had a lot of fun, didn't she?

Sonakshi Sinha

Now, for something really different! Sonakshi Sinha was seen at Aamir Khan's Diwali bash in a floral Arpita Mehra lehenga. The cutout halter top of the outfit was definitely something different, and the sheer material of the dupatta made an otherwise busy outfit work. Paired with big earrings by Mahdeep Kapoor and a pretty silver clutch, this was a fun look. Pink lips and flowers in her hair added to the young and fresh vibe the lovely young starlet was sporting. Some may like it, some may not, but we'll give her points for trying something new.

Of course, there were so many others spotted at the various bashes this year. Pastels seemed the way to go, though there were definitely some bright splashes of colour. What were some of your favourite looks from this year's Diwali bashes? Let us know in the comments below!
