Black has always been a staple in a fashionista's closet. The 'little black dress', anyone? The colour has once again emerged as the go-to for many celebrities as they dress up for various events. After all, they do say black goes with anything. However, did these Bollywood stars manage to win us over with their black ensembles? Let's find out!

The actress, who manages to wow us in almost all her red carpet outings, failed to impress at the MAMI opening night in a furry, black sari by Anamika Khanna. Between the way the sari was draped, the strappy blouse and the cape with lace edge, it came up to a rather disastrous look. The heavy white choker and long plait, combined with the dull lip colour, all ensured that this outing was a fashion failure.

The young actress was spotted at a store launch in a sheer, black mini dress, which featured feather details at the hem. Not only was the dress flattering, with an almost rocker-chick vibe, the hairstyle and dark nail colour added to a commendable attempt at a grunge look. However, while those black heels might have worked with any other outfit, studded boots would have been a better choice for this one. Still, not a bad attempt at all.

The heartthrob played up to the cameras during a recent stint of promotions for his upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in a black-on-black Antar Agni ensemble by Ujjal Dubey. The draped shirt, trousers and coat were paired with black shoes and a watch as his sole accessory. This look was the perfect combination of simplicity and style. We can't stop looking!

The stunning actress looked effortlessly chic at the Mumbai Film Festival in a black one sleeve gown by Nikhil Thampi. The only ornaments she wore were bronze rose studs that went well with the rose appliques on the lone shoulder of the gown. With her hair pulled back into a quiff ponytai and pink lips, she looked runway ready. This one was a winner.

The longtime Bollywood star played it safe at a promotional event for husband Ajay Devgn's Shivaay in a black, chevron print kurta paired with black pants by Jade. The chunky necklace and open-toe black shoes added to the casual feel of her look. With her hair left open and make-up left simple, she looked gorgeous, even with the ill fitting of the kurta.
