Family Under Scanner: The Deols

A wedding culminates the blossoming love between two soul mates and paves the path towards forever. In this month of Love, the feeling of togetherness is definitely in the air for our Bollywood dwellers. 2nd February saw the coming together of Ahana Deol, the youngest daughter of Bollywood's desi He-Man, Dharmendra Singh Deol, and the dream girl, Hema Malini, to the Delhi based businessman Vaibhav Vohra. Though our reason to join this happy affair was not the gourmet buffet, but the shimmering sequins and family heirlooms which added brilliance to this big fat Indian wedding. So here's presenting from the desk of BollyCurry, the fashion prowess of the Deol women in Family Under Scanner!

Mehndi

For any Indian bride-to-be the function of mehndi is like a written promise that she is now her man's woman. Amongst the green happiness of henna, the rainbow fragrances of the flowers and the visible joy of everyone around, an elated Ahana Deol stepped out in a green blue Neeta Lulla lehanga, created especially for her mehndi function. Owing that the designer went wrong with the velvet blouse, Ahana makes up for everything by that colossal happiness shining on her face. She even went the hippie route with a colorful head lei. So very cute! Following closely were sister Esha Deol and mother Hema Malini, who too chose Neeta Lulla designs for the occasion. The orange yellow combination lehanga made Esha glow and we much appreciate the matching designer sling for her fractured hand. Flanking her precious gems was Hema Malini in a golden maroon Kanjeevaram saree, looking extremely happy and proud. Hema ji was the epitome of all the feelings a bride's mother holds.

Sangeet

Hands adorned in love and heart awaiting the final moment, the bride-to-be sashayed in joy to the beats of her sangeet. Ahana Deol was all smiles and coy shyness when she entered her sangeet function, tightly held by her man, wearing a blue Neeta Lulla lehanga with silver embellishments. Ahana is known to be reserved and loves being sober, which was clearly reflected throughout her wedding festivities. And we highly applaud it! The overall attire gave her a willowy, lithe effect and the soft curls added to the serenity of the look. Adding bling to this function was sister Esha Deol in a cream golden Shyamal and Bhumika creation. Some family heirlooms, a tight bun and the brilliant smile finished her look. And we are extremely enthralled by the matching sling! Hema Malini was in her element at this event, as she was all ready to perform for her darling daughter. Dressed immaculately in a Shyamal and Bhumika Prussian blue georgette saree, flowing hair, and kundan jewelry, the immense happiness she carried completed her ensemble.

Wedding

And finally we have the day day when everything fades and what stays is the belief that a new joyous chapter starts here. On the auspicious day of her wedding, Ahana Deol decked up like any other bride, with eyes twinkling with dreams of forever. The Neeta Lulla lehanga made in trio shades of orange-red-pink with all over golden work, radiated Ahana's inner happiness. Traditional jewelry and untold amount of emotions made up for adornments.The bride was magnificent. And the sister of the bride was no less a stunner! Wearing a magenta lehanga, traditional South Indian jewelry and now a very much lust worthy custom matching sling, Esha Deol was truly creating a dhoom. But the enchantment doesn't end here. Mother of the bride, Hema Malini, walked in wearing a ruby pink kanjeevaram saree with the traditional jewelry intact. Such is her demure yet alluring aura, that you just can't help stopping and staring; and sighing at the perfection!

Reception

With the aftermath comes a celebration of a new kind, that in which everything is shared. Venturing into her new world, Ahana Deol made her first official appearance as the wife of Vaibhav Vohra at her reception in Mumbai. Wearing a peach floor length anarkali by Manish Malhotra, minimal diamond jewelry, her wedding symbols and the blushing bride vibe, Ahana completely dazzled us. Here's one bride who overwhelms even the blings! And talking about bling, Esha surely seems to love to sparkle. Dressed in a red embellished one shoulder gown by Amy Ballimoria and of course a matching sling for quirks, she did her best to steal the show. While she did look good, we missed the traditional route very much. Though unlike both her daughters, Hema Malini neither gave the shimmer nor the tradition a rest. Wrapped in a beautiful turquoise chiffon saree by Manish Malhotra, Hema Malini floored the mere humans around. We are not biased towards the mother of the bride, it's just her timeless beauty that has managed to enthrall us completely!

The reception party didn't disband so early. It was again held in Delhi, the city of Ahana's husband Vaibhav Vohra. Though unlike all other functions, this was devoid of Bollywood galore. Rather the big guns of politics were here in their designer best. Ahana graced this event in an ice blue Cinderella gown by Shantanu and Nikhil, adorned by her wedding symbols and hubby dearest as some impressive arm candy. Looking extremely alluring, she truly looked to be living her fairytale. Joining her sister was Esha, in a lilac layered gown by Simone Khambatta, with some drool worthy diamonds and a contrasting silver sling completing the look. She made a pretty picture of a young prom date and the loyal sling did not disappoint yet again! But the Deol sisters' most precious treasure was their never dimming smiles and we believe that's what made Hema Malini glow so much. Draped in a champagne colored embellished saree, Hema ji was the dream girl once more.

True happiness lies in little moments spent with people who love you more than you can love them. And families are made of this!
