Best of Lip-Locks '10

Comments  Comments [ 33 ]    By Naseem J. | 03 January 2011 | 10:32pm

Among the numerous Best categories that do rounds in the final days of each passing year, and the first few of the new one, here's bringing you something brand new!

For an industry that (strictly) shunned the bold acts, lip-locks have long been a no-no thing onscreen. However, times change, and so do the set of rules. The turn of this century had seen Bollywood take a leap in defying restraining orthodoxy, or cultural inhibitions - whichever way one chooses to tag them; and of recent the trend of intimate scenes has been gaining blood.

The year 2010 alone witnessed its share of (more than) fair liplocks, which we list for you here after.

Movies : KITES

Forbidden Love: Situationally the love and wife of another, Barbara Mori, who plays the female lead of this multi lingual Roshan venture, ought not to be in love with Hrithik, her male co-star. So the union of these two, with a kiss that was long coming through the preceding sequences, shows inevitable traces of guilty hesitance, mingled with unsuppressed want. For everything about the movie that did fail at BO, Mori and Roshan did make a watch worthy and very convincing couple onscreen, even if revolting to the bidden mind. No wonder all those tongues wagged about inside gossip in their mutual personal lives!

Anushka Sharma and Shahid Kapoor
Movie : BADMAASH COMPANY

Shedding Shy Covers: Uncomfortable with shooting for a smooch scene for their movie, Badmaash Company, Anushka SHarma sure took time opening up for a comfortable onscreen performance for the same. It was heard from sources on the sets that the lead actors had gone absconding for several hours after giving a series of unconvincing shots, and when they finally returned, a single retake did it - seen in the sizzling car space liplock shared by the two with the cops on their trail.

Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh
Movie : BAND BAAJA BAARAAT

Drunken Love-foolery:
A typical case of UST between business partners and thick mates Shruti and Bitto, aka Anushka and Ranveer. It is a celebration evoked inebriation that finally gets these whose chemistry has been glaring back at the audience all along to open up with each other, discarding aside their 'no love in business' policy with a dazedly gentle kiss that progresses into much more...

Vidya Balan and Arshad Warsi
Movie : ISHQIYA

Rustic Games:  This was one onscreen liplock marked by the ardor of the rustic, and a passion for physical intimacy that inevitably came across as a primordial need for man. Vidya playing a gray gaon ki chorri was bold not in the typical sense, but in the very basic and raw way, a job that she did with much efficiency. Arshad was a perfectly complementing onscreen partner.

Maria Gomez and Madhavan
Movie : TEEN PATTI

The Lured Amateur: High on his over night riches, Madhvan - playing a character who can walk int every trap laid out for him under the impression of making it big - indulges in physical pleasures, liberated and stressed at once.

Emraan Hashmi and Shella Allen
Movie : CROOK

Serial Kissing: Its the pro at his job. Emran Hashmi has to be the kind of path-breaker in the field of onscreen liplocks, as perhaps Newton was to mechanical physics! (No offense!) As a Gangster, or as a Crook Hashmi comes about to be showcased into the greater than greatest intimate scenes time and again, so much, that one doesn't even find it out of the ordinary any more; or quite the contrary in fact!

Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor
Movie : ANJAANA ANJAANI

Afloat In Love: A sizzling scene between these two very popular actors and leading costars in the movie Anjaana Anjaani upon their final candid confession while bubbling over the freezing waters an air tube circling them. Even as the rescue team engages in a savior act, these give no damn to the surrounding (dis)comfort in expressing their love(lip)lock!

Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika Padukone
Movie : LAFANGEY PARINDEY

Tapori Ishq:
Dippy and Neil share a kiss - in a gush of relief, building exhilaration and subtle amusement at their relief and joy! A prefect job of portraying one feeling possessive and overjoyed in the a single physical expression of his love for his girl by Neil.

Ranbir Kapoor and Sarah Thompson
Movie : RAAJNEETI

Crossfire Bond: A peaceful love across many lands blooms, until it becomes the politically incorrect deed. In this shared liplock between Ranbir and Sarah who play eventually ripped apart lovers in the movie, it is the man assuring his love of his fidelity and intention towards what they share, and of his character integrity - a single gesture that seals her questions which are certainly not unfound.

Sizzling chemistry, or offensive boldness?! Whichever way you perceive these once upon a time forbidden scenes, be sure to speak your mind. And pick the best/worst liplock of 2010 in your opinion!
